CS comparison tests, what would you like to see?

Make that three! At a minimum, testing the RAO against, say, the 4-MAX should get a lot closer to revealing just how much the Tri-Ad can take than any knife Andrew has previously tested. Win or lose, I'd be totally down with that. :)

This many times over. It's the only production folder that I know of that I honestly think may beat the CS knife. Honestly, I want the RAO to win as that would give me a bit more data on the 4-Max (which I'm far more interested in) and would also show how Cold Steel handles themselves after a loss. Not to impugn Mr. Demko's integrity whatsoever, but being humble in victory is easier than doing the same in defeat.

Honestly, I'd love to see some fixed blades tested the same way, though I suspect the weights needed to break them would be too high for the current set up. Everyone says a fixed blade is the best lock (I don't agree, they have TERRIBLE lock stick ;) ), but it would be very informative to see what percentage of that strength various locks can approximate.

i like to see ak field vs. swamprat rmd.

i wanna know the perferance of CS 3v.

Fixed blades require completely different destruction tests. The current CS tests are aimed solely at lock strength, which is an important aspect of a folding knife, at least for most users.
Where's that big guy in the hockey mask who destruction-tested knives? I remember Busse doing best - quelle surprise - CRK failing horribly again and Cold Steel doing very well for a $25 knife.

If I am completely honest, I never trusted those tests by CS on youtube. Always seemed rigged to ensure CS winning.

And yet, when people like the guy Philwar is talking about test them, similar results are produced.

Fixed blade stress tests, comparing it to competitors like esee and kabab and such.

And i think it's time the triadlock faced some beefy contenders, like a benchmade adamas or the ZT0300. Especially that last one.

AK-47 Triad Lock vs ZT 0301 is already on youtube. AK-47 won, but the ZT 0301 performed admirably. It passed the spine whacks and didn't fail the weight hang until it had 270lbs on it.

For perspective, it took six times as much weight as the Swiss Army Knife, er, Sebenza, took to fail.

PLEASE TEST AGAINST SPYDERCO'S UPDATED MIDLOCK, as on the Native 5!!!!!! It is a great competitor for the Triad lock, I think.
Sorry but it's not going to make a huge difference in this sort of application, the Triad lock has more in common with the Ball Bearing lock, and even then it has some advantages.

The Tri-Ad lock is the most mechanically stable thing that's ever been invented, it's just like back when the Axis lock was new, nothing that reliable had hit the market before. Until someone comes up with something different to match it everything else will lose. The Bolt Action lock as seen on the Sage 3 would probably do really well, but again, good but not equal. The Tri-Ad is the only thing on the market that pinches a locking tab so directly, and the contact surface between the tang and lock-tab is angled so that pressure jams it in even tighter. Which is why the lock has such a long throw, and stuff like the Compression lock is inherently less stable under pressure. Basically as far as I can tell the only improvements that could be made would be to use a similar concept in something lighter and more convenient, the Tri-Ad has a lot of meat on it.

Ok then. Emerson A-100 vs CS Ti-Lite.
That's fair. I like the Ti-Lite but all four I own(ed) had weak linerlocks. I don't think CS will put them against anyone until they've been redesigned to fit the Tri-Ad lock. :D

I know these two aren't folders but I HAVE TO SEE a ESSE JUNGLAS GO UP AGAINST A TRAILMASTER in a proof vid style format. I'm talking about stroke for stroke too. I love ESSE knives but I just wanna see Lynn, Rob and the boys do it right!!! The 01 Gurka Kukuri would probably kick the JUNGLAS INTO ORBIT, hell no maybe about it, that's why I suggest the TM

DO IT!!! You know you want to pull the trigger on this baby!!

I would prefer to see Cold Steel compare the edge retention of their xhp steel to their competitors. Upgrading to this steel and keeping cost down is impressive. My new Recon 1 was purchased for under $100. The lock tests don't impress me. Any company could use a pin (if they wished) like the Roa to lock the knife open.
