CS folders

A.P.F.

Where did that pic come from? It's not in the CS catalog?

Heh, Tostig is right on both counts, it is a Ritter Grip in my sig line. I try to illustrate each knife I am carrying at the time, so you will no doubt see things change at times. :)

At this point its simple for me, I gave away my Manix (to LA Deputy friend) and stopped carrying my custom 110 (BG42) because on a whim I picked up a Spartan. It is an odd duck but easy to learn and always at the ready, great knife its beats all the other knives mentioned on price pretty easily as well.

My Dad had a few Cold Steel knives from the 90's mostly. He lost interest in them and turned them over to me. The only one I've kept is this Recon 1, made in Japan. It's very sharp and solid.

That is a very tough folder, I have 2 myself.

That's a pretty version in the picture. Aluminum grips? Don't make them anymore ay?

What a tank! Does it have inside metal liners? Are they drilled out? Or is it just pinned. Can't tell if it will come apart.

Yes it has metal liners, no they are not drilled out.

The knife is screwed together and VERY strong, very well made.

Those other knifes are all cute but really for 56 Bucks...this bad boy is it. One handed opening, opening from the pocket, one of; if not the strongest lock on the planet, the AUS 8 on mine is comparable to any ATS-34, 440C knife I've had and the intimadation factor is off the charts...

Alright that's it, Lynn Thompson owes me ten bucks ; )

Ouch! Very nice. It looks like it weighs 10 pounds. How's the ergo's with your hand locked in that handle? Looks like it might not be a very free-wheeling blade??

I would normally say that AUS-8 is nothing to write home about. But of the Cold Steel knives I have, all being AUS-8, none have presented me with a bad edge at a less than desirable time.

Cold Steel does some things with AUS-8 that other producers do not, such as dipping in Liquid Nitrogen for some time. I cannot say what the difference is, but their AUS-8 beats others by a large margin. I've been carrying and using the Large Espada since I bought it about two months ago, and have not had to sharpen it yet.

Is that good or bad? You tell me.
Must be some good aus 8 even my s30v blades need a quick sharpening after one day of moderate use!!! :)

The Spartan is looking quite sweet, and if it's anything like their Espadas, it's a beast. I have PLENTY of folders from all companies, and honestly I wasn't the biggest fan of CS folders.

Not until this new line designed by Andrew Demko showed up. The espadas, rajahs, spartans...those are all winners in my book. What's cool is that they have affordable models. I saw a vid where someone was batoning through wood with their rajah II! It's on youtube.

I have a lot of folders in my drawer; customs and productions. I've used my fair share of folders (including BM760Ti, Umnumzaan, ZT folders, and many more), and I must admit that the Spartan is one heck of a folder. Other than the weight issue (yes, this beast is heavy), I have no complaints. The lock is very thick, almost as thick as my ER Nemesis (which is 1/4") and the Tri Ad lock keeps the folder from blade plays. One of the best bang for the buck folder. You got some extra cash, get the Spartan.
