FYI -- The New Frontier Hawk I got yesterday has a 22" handle on it. I'm not sure why, but that is how it was shipped. The finish is definitely the same as on the older ones, but the top of the head is straight. I don't plan to throw this one much, but that is a consideration.

From Cold Steel's website, it looks like they are moving toward 22 inch handles as a standard instead of the old 19 inch handles; they have already changed the product descriptions on most if not all of their wood-handled hawks to reflect this change. My guess is they shipped the first few of the new Frontiers with whatever was left of the old 19 inch handles, and now they are starting to ship standard with 22 inch. The spare handles they offer are also 22 inches now, I believe.

Interesting!!! I have 3 spare 19" handles stored away for my older version... I wonder how the 22" handles work when throwing in comparison to the 19" ones???
