What knife doe you think is better for survival the CS master hunter in Carbon V,or 8A.
or a fallkniven F1.
Thanks

Both will solve the same problems to get you through a few nights in the woods, as will one of those $10-$20 Swedish or Finnish utility knives.

The F1 uses better steel, for more money. The F1's "Thermorun Elastomer" grip is harder than Cold Steel's Kraton. The Cold Steel has a longer blade and a thicker handle. The Fallkniven has the tang protruding a bit at the butt end of the sheath, in case you want to pound on it or with it a bit.

The stainless Cold Steel Master Hunter is made, by evidence of construction details in the knife and the sheath, in the same factory in Japan that does the work for Fallkniven. The carbon steel version of the Cold Steel is a different breed.

Fallkniven's leather sheaths are some of the best I've seen on a factory knife.

Cold Steel can be a bargain if you find the right sale.

Just rec'd my Fallkniven F-1 in the mail. This is an awesome little knife! I don't have a Cold Steel Master Hunter, but I will soon. I'm going to compare both when I do. I must say though that the F-1 has far exceeded my expectations and is a GREAT utility / hunting knife. I like it so much I am going to buy 5 more (unless I find the CS Master Hunter to be better), and send them to my cousins and a uncle who are very into hunting, to say the least.

I think the Master Hunter looks much the same now as when it was introduced, as does the F1 (apart from the new steel and exposed tang at the butt) which was initially made in Germany. Is it construction details in the S1 and A1 you refer to, and if so how do they differ from the F1, or have you noticed changes in the F1 or Master Hunter I haven't?
