Anybody had a chance to try the CS Pocket Bushman? Any thoughts? Reminds me of a Mercator on steroids. Looks like it would be a good kit knife.

I've picked one up recently, quite a bargain for what you get. Aside from opinions on Cold Steel, this is a decent product. The steel is nothing spetacular, but I've been able to get it razor sharp; the blade profile is great for outdoors and utility. It has a very large profile with respect for physcial size (I need to take some pictures), mostly due to the locking mechanism. It's a little difficult to open one-handed and you'll need two hands to close. I was leary about the folded metal body, but so far it has proven to be pretty stout. For a bug out, get home, truck or emergency kit, this would be a great addition if you wanted to add an inxpensive folder. I want to do some battoning to see how tough the lock is, but so far it's been quite strong and robust while doing some light chopping.

It's real big, and the folded steel handle is uncomfortable for me to hold in any kind of heavy usage. Not something I would carry in my pocket; to big and unwieldy for me. That said, I think it is a pretty decent knife for the price. OK for car or truck carry, but I think that a fixed knife is better for that. Mine was never going to supplant my RC4 in the glove box, so I gave it away to a young relative who was enamored of it.
Hope he doesn't cut his fingers off trying to close it.

i got one, its big and beefy. when its open it is solid like a fixed blade. Easy to sharpen to hair popping sharpness, and it holds an edge well. The handle is a bit slippery but i wear leather gloves anyways when i hike so thats not an issue for me. SOLID lockup, more so than many high end knives.

good value for the money.
