CS Recon 1 in use ( photos)

Hi trix2004 -

Nice review, and cool knife.

I like the design, and will be interested to see how the G10 holds up.

Thank you for the cool pictures, and for the record, I use my knives in the kitchen because there are a lot of uses for a knife in the kitchen.

best regards -

As the esteemed gentleman from Illinois (mqqm) already stated - Thanks for the pics and review. Nice to see that you terminated the coating with extreme prejudice. I agree with your assessment of the clip. It could you a little sprucing up, maybe some vitamins to let it grow up all the way. Aside from that, I NEEDS to get one of those.:D

I like the short clips, and stiffer ones. I have lost knives from the clips not being strong enough. I am willing to deal with the added hassle of repocketing a stiff spring.

I have an old Recon1 tanto, with the Zytel handle and ultra lock. Great knife. Still rock solid lock up after 10 years of use.

I had one of the ultra lock recons but I gave it to a buddy that went to work in Afghanistan. Today I just ordered my new Recon 1 tanto.

Thanks for the pictures Trix! :D

I tell you what guys. I am a die hard Spyderco fan. I have an entire safe FULL of Spydies. I bought a couple of the Lawman models to try out while on duty, and these new CS tri ad knives are an amazing breed. Well put together and overbuilt. Very nice knives and in expensive.

Though Cold Steel says that G10 is strong enough, I would have liked it if they had ss liners.

Waiting for the new Voyagers, they have better steel and liners. But the price ain't cheap, maybe I'd get myself a Recon 1 tanto first to tide me over :)

The G10 shouldn't be a cause for concern. Consider the thousands of linerless frn modern folders and the unlined wood handled traditionals that have been working knives for generations. G10 has very high strength and durability without a large risk of brittle failure, and these are still pocket knives.

I agree with you, I'm not a die hard anything fan but I'll say I really wasn't a CS fan. Ha, I think a lot has to do with their gimmicky marketing but I have to say the new Recon 1 with the clip point is a mighty fine looking blade.

Cool little review.

I have an old Recon1 , tanto/axis lock that I got back in the 90's.

I am wanting a mini Lawman pretty bad :D I think the G10 will hold up ok for some time , as far as the lock wearing out ?? were talking years man.
How many of you have an old Buck 110 whose lock still hasnt worn out ? ;)
