CS Trailmaster coating question

Anyone know when CS started putting on the black coating on their blades?

Also, does CS even make an uncoated Carbon V trailmaster anymore?
 
As far as I know, Cold Steel still distributes it's "master hunter" line in uncoated "Carbon V" steel. It's a good knife. I like mine.
 
That's true they do have the Master Hunter in Carbon V.

But do they make the trailmasters in uncoated Carbon V anymore? All I see i their black coated or San Mai trailmasters.

I just bought a uncoated trailmaster off of ebay and was curious as to the age of the blade.
 
I don't think CS distributes uncoated trailmasters any longer. They may, perhaps, have some "factory seconds" in their inventory, but I doubt it. If you have your heart set on one directly from CS, you might give them a call and ask.

New trailmasters have been coated for a couple year now... maybe longer.
