Has anyone noticed that all the "demonstrators" in this video are candidates for the " HA's Biker of the Year" award because of their pronounced GUTS, BLACK mustaches, and seeming lack of awareness that they are on camera? We knife owners/collectors do not fit this visual profile.
Just A thought:

so what?

people dress how they want. clothes dont make the person.

i dont care how they dress,as long as they keep producing a high quality product.

So, what's next? Are you going to bitch about the fact that I like to carry large, sharp knives? Maybe I look like a hoodlum...(I have a "large" mustache, a "gut", and generally a "mean" look...But really, I'm a "nice guy"!).

I think I'm OK--I have to admit to the gut, but my mustache and beard are bright red. I don't have one of those evil tactical assault BLACK mustaches (emphasis yours, not mine.)
Why does it matter what color their mustaches are?

Glad you take pride in how you are and what you look like. I am not picking or bitching about anything. Just making an observation about the tapes, and how that may be viewed by others that have no concept about the world of knives. Let me make a statement about how my world observation about people images was changed forever: My beautiful girlfriend and I were steaming from Nova Scotia to Lewes, DE: We were sitting on the stern of the ferry, about to embark were 100 harleys , black leather, studs, etc. They came aboard and proceded to the stern. I was about to confront one HUGE guy because he was talking with my girlfriend, in what I thought was in a meancing manner. It was at that time that a women came over to me and asked if my girl friend and I would like to join her husband(the guy talking to my girlfriend)and her for dinner that evening. It turned out that the 100 harleys and their riders were part and parcial of the annual national police chiefs motorcycle roundup. Well, I was shocked, and ashamed of my pre-conceived notions of people, and swore that I would never be subject to such narrow mindedness again.
Concerning CS and the tape, it is a matter of taste and delivery. I would have delivered the product differently. That is All. No judgement on the people or their attire. Just the marketing approach, and for CS to make it as broad as possible.

No You do not resemble my description, unless you think you do. You are a knife collector/user and that is why we are here.

Thanks for reading. I have no idea what we look like, nor do I care what we do in our other lives. The important issue is the love of knives that we all share. As far as the CS staff as "Biker(s) of the year", that was a euphemism on my part and had no relevance to the living or the dead.

"to the living or the dead."

Well yeah but how about the living dead?

Now I better understand what you were getting at ScottHere. Though, I still disagree.

Those ARE the Cold Steel guys, and I'd rather they show off their product than some hired actors, slim and trim, teeth gleaming white and all. Have you seen some of the pictures of the custom makers here? I have, and they are a scary lot, until you get chatting with them on IRC!

Have you seen the pics that the Strider guys have? All of the pics that I have seen are with guys in black and green pyjamas, M4s, machine guns, helicopters, and so on. Is this bad advertising?

Stereotyping is done by the perceiver!! You said yourself that the bikers on the boat looked mean, until you found out that they were cops. You also said that the Cold Steel guys look like black moustached, berr guzzling biker dudes. Maybe you have a problem, and not the Cold Steel guys.

Welcome to the forums ScottHere.

Speaking of the video, are they doing to do an updated one yet?

I have the old "Proof" video, because I'm trying to get my parrents to become CS dealers.

also in the old proof video, when they use the Culloden to stab into the cardboard, did you ever notice on one of the closeups/slo motion parts, that there is a whole bunch of what looks like blood stains on the cardboard?

Maby you should stab with one of those
biggrin.gif

Those were not hired actors on the Proof video. They are PhilL,Lifter,Rugger and myself. The guy who was chinning on the knife blade was a famous maker(hint-D.D.R.)We were paid with factory seconds and women. The General supplied the rope, and Bob Glassman bid on the broken knives.
Hope this helps.

I think the original post in this thread is faintly ridiculous.
