Thanks for the pics!

Looks huge. Need to fondle (I mean closely inspect) one when I can.

Did it come in a Buck or TOPS box? Curious how it's being marketed.

Buck Box. The new yellow box for 2009.
Label:

BUCK/TOPS CSAR-T
Cat. 3362
12/04/2009

0095BKSTP-B

It's not any bigger than the Alpha Folder. Same frame size exactly I believe. It is heavier due to a much the big blade.

Excellent pics Flat

One problem though, How does Tops get top billing on the blade?

I bought mine at Knifecenter for $96. I also got a charcoal dymondwood. Shipping for both was $7.

Decisions, decisions....Had narrowed my Christmas list to either a rosie Kalinga or the Giraffe 532. Now I got this to consider.

Hey Flat, I see they are on pre-buy status. How long did you have to wait?

They must have sold out. I ordered mine on the 11th and it was here on the 14th.

I ordered mine on the 11th the same day the Knifecenter guys posted the link/thread in this forum. He was right...they sold out real quick.

Fritz,

I've got all three. I have a the Kalinga folder that I carry some. I also have a 532 I carry a good bit. The fact is they are different knives. The 532 is a gentleman's carry knife. The Kalinga Folder in S30V is a first class heavy skinner, and the CSAR is a heavy tactical.

So, as you say you've got some thinking to do. All three are fine knives IMO.

I'd buy the giraffe 532 as its a buildout and once its gone its gone. The other two are production knives and will be available later.

Flat,
I was thinking the same way-I've been eying that 532 for months and would hate to miss it but got a bigger Christmas present allowance from Mrs family accountant so now may be the optimum time for a higher dollar knife.

Decisions Decisions:confused:

Ya convinced me Flat, lifted the gun put the sights on the giraffe and pulled the trigger. Hope it gets here before Christmas but I have my doubts cause it says 7-10 days:mad: If I was home I'd already be checkin the mail box.

Sorry for getting off the Czar track

I wonder if there will be other models... if the CSAR-T is a tanto, will a CSAR-S (spear point) or a CSAR-D (drop point) be coming? Make a Drop point model and slap a flipper on it, and partially serrate the FLAT GROUND blade... and I'll get right in line. :)

Am I the only one that notices how off center the blade is when closed? This is the problem that kept me from buying the advantage pro. The blade rubs the liner. Now this one too!!! What is Buck's problem??
