CS's Special Edition - A list

If Cold Steel starts regularly, offering colored G-10, their sales are going to blow up. I could definitely see Lynn doing this to stick-it to the competition. Hopefully it will put pressure on mid range production companies like Kershaw and Spyderco to do the same, MORE frequently, and with NON-SPRINT steels/prices. Better late than never.:grumpy:

See post # 25 below for updated information.

The Bladehq.com webpage for the American Lawman in Olive Drab G10 stated earlier that only 400 would be available. However, they have taken that down and now it says limited.

It seems to get more tricky these days when trying to find out when new knives will be made available.

Most of the time, new products are shown at the SHOT Shows that are held in mid-to-late January each year. Those products tend to be prototypes. Some companies have gotten better at announcing and delivering their new products.

But, it really comes down to dealers announcing what they get, so it is a good idea to keep a list of favorite knife dealers bookmarked for this and keeping a schedule of sorts to keep track of things.

Hey The Peacent,

I think there is a good chance that a dealer that accepts European orders will be getting these.

Knifecenter.com is showing the Olive Drab G10 Recon 1 Tanto-Point and Hold Out II that were originally shown on Bladehq.com.

So it is just a matter of time for them to show up at the dealers, I guess I spoke too soon about them being dealer exclusives to a specific model.

Be patient and the knife you are interested in should be available over the next few months.

This is a good thing because it opens up better pricing and availability than only one dealer having an exclusive that can't be purchased anywhere else.

I saw it two days ago. I am waiting to place my order (it's already prepared and the cart is full) just to see if the HO I appears somewhere. But I don't know how much can I wait, I need some of the things I want to order from them before the end of this week.
It'd be a PITA if I placed the order today and tomorrow the week starts with the Hold Out I on the "New Arrivals" section... wouldn't be the first time...

Got a Green Clip Point Recon 1 and a new Medium G-10 Espada with DLC coming my way. Can't wait!

I wonder if the Brown American Lawman listed in Midway is really using the old thicker G-10 handle as the picture shown, it would be awesome.

I would like to know this as well. Any Cold Steel reps out there that could answer this for us?

Aww man... I saw the KC Recon 1 in OD, thought it was a special case. Now CS is actually doing it? I have mixed feelings... on the one hand, I'm a tad upset I have to get them now, on the other, atleast I wasn't completely fooled into thinking that KC Recon 1 was some special collector one time deal, and passed on it.

Yes, I am pleased to see that these are going to be made available to dealers that want to carry them.

I picked up one of the Olive Drab Clip-Points from Knifecenter.com and can report that the G10 used is not exactly the same as the standard G10 were are used to.

It is a little bit finer in the threading pattern, yet still quite grippy.

I recall the Cold Steel Rep saying before that the American Lawman and Hold Outs will have the smoother G10 before in another thread.

The 2015 catalog showed this on the American Lawman.

Also the Olive Drab Recon 1 Tanto-Point and Hold Out II have shown up at another dealer but I can't say who they are because they aren't a dealer here.

This is looking better all the time. Plus there may be a few more versions that haven't been shown yet.

(I haven't seen the Recon 1 5.5-inch Clip-Points in either color yet or a Recon 1 4-inch Coyote Brown Clip-Point too.)

Don't forget, that a lot of the dealers are using the stock pictures of these that were provided by Cold Steel.

So far, only Knifecenter.com has taken and posted their own pictures that I have found.

American Lawman would look good in a dark blue G10. Then it would be true Lawman not only in name only.

I agree that is a good idea.

They did a Land & Sea/Rescue with a blue handle several years ago.

I wished I would have picked one up, along with all of their original kitchen knife series.

I'm quite happy to see they're offering some different color combos. On the other hand, when someone gets one in hand can they let us know if the olive drab is really the shade that it shows up in pictures? I might risk it for the sake of variety, but the pictures make it look...well...butt ugly.

I don't think will be the case. The Finn Wolf is Griv-Ex, I got an AK47 field with OD G10 scales that are actually OD.

Yeah, pictures vs reality doesn't always match up. I've seen some pictures of the Finn Wolf that look completely grey, some that look like true OD, and some that look more like the reality of the knife, which is somewhere in the middle. Kershaw has this issue sometimes too, the aluminum handled 1776 Link looks grey in photos, but in hand it looks sorta purple-ish, and a lot of sites show the CQC-4k in a much darker brown than it actually is.

The best pictures I have seen so far are from Knifecenter.com. Their pictures of the Olive Drab are very close to reality. They haven't listed any Coyote Brown versions yet though.

I haven't gotten around to buying any of the Coyote Brown versions yet, but I suspect it will be a bit darker than what is being shown so far.

The stock Cold Steel pictures that are being used in most dealer listings are much brighter.

Pictures are always tricky business to get right. It is so easy for them to be off regarding the color or size.

More limited edition TiLites popping on the "New Arrivals" section from Knifecenter today. I am really annoyed, they still say that they don't know IF they are going to have the Coyote Tan Hold Outs. I mean, again I am not asking them "WHEN will you have them?" but "WILL (ever, in the future, some day) you have them?" just to know whether to place my order or just wait.
As usual, "Hi, I am sorry but we don't know BLA BLA BLA...". I mean, come on, one of the biggest knife dealers in the world doesn't know if they are going to distribute these, when they are already selling ultra limited high value blablabla editions?
I feel stupid

Apparently the "quick reply" jinxed my picture. HERE is what I'm talkin' about:

I've yet to buy anything from Cold Steel, but they caught my attention when they switched steels for this year's models. That Talwar with brown G10 looks awesome!
