Go to www.accuweather.com and get the forecast so you bring appropriate clothing & sleeping gear. Looks to be a great weekend....

The Prez is in town? NOW you tell us Brian:eek: Geeze, I'm going to have to thin down my arsenal before I try to drive up there:o Of ALL the places HE could be THIS weekend and HE has to choose OUR Camping AREA:jerkit: I want pictures taken if were all sitting around whittling and the Secret Service pulls up:D Everyone bring your cameras! Better yet, if any 'black colored vehicles with WDC plates' pull into the campground we should all scatter in different directions into the surrounding woods for fun! Kinda' like the hound n' the hares' sorta thing...dare them to come find us:D

Guess this means ALL you Busse nuts have been warned in advance not to be slinging heavy metal at the local gas station/quicky mart:eek:

And for God's sake GUNKNIFENUT do not tell anyone your Forum name if they ask in town:eek::D

De' bison steaks are on dry ice right next to me......

Hell..they have my DNA on file...I used to be US PROPERTY!:D
Actually, I was about to start a thread about the legal knife limit in CT(4" blade)...this really tics me off to even talk about, but I think I am leaving the HEAVY METAL at home. I might bring something..but the idea of getting one of my babies taken away is almost to much for this old man to bear...I might end up on the evening news if something like that was going down.
What do you guys think , and does the "LAW" have much bearing on what you are bringing?
Sorry TRACKER to hijack, but this almost fits with your thread???

I was talking to some of my copper buddies about this today. They pretty much said the same thing. If you keep the bigger stuff in a pack it is considered transporting and that is allowed. Although if an officer wanted to, he could find something to charge you with. Pretty much as long as your not walking around with it in plain view or acting like a fool, we should be OK.
However that came from 3 NY LEO'S AND 1 CA LEO, I am new to CT, so this isn't written in stone. I fortunately don't have too many oversized blades. I am bringing my RAT 5, and I have a Western Cutlery Bowie I was thinking about bringing, but thats about the biggest I have. Fortunately there not too expensive:D

Thats what I was thinking..I would assume that an LEO would have something better to do than mess with a bunch of guys doing something constructive. I could be wrong though. I think that I will simply bring less big knives and that way..less risk. Gene

Yeah Marty, LOL!

Theo that's the point I was trying to make, real name, then introduce yourself by your Forum name...Gotta quit being sarcastic!

Natural...glad you like Accuweather website enjoy your new bookmark!

GKN, well you can bring them in a duffle sack for use in camp. Just don't want an arsenal laying around on a trade blanket IMO.

Hey, this weather doesn't look too bad. A little rain never hurt :p

I will be bringing my BK9 along with a falkniven F1 on my belt. I will bring one or two trade items that may get some interest (read becker knife) :D

If you put your blades in a pack in the trunk of the car, you are absolutely fine with the bigger blades. But out them in the trunk. If you have an SUV or hatchback, put them under other bags all the way at the back. The more inaccessible they are to you, the better it is. Cops worry about being attacked, and road rage amongst other things, and angry people with large blades easily grabbed is scary.

Open blades in or out of their sheaths, and over the legal limt, are more likely to bring weapons in a motor vehcile charges.

Just pack your big blades as I advised and you will be 100% within the law, with no worries. I have discussed this at length with officers at both the state and various municipalities, all in CT, and all, to a man, have independently confirmed what I just wrote.

Packed away, in trunk, or in back of the car away from your reach. Good to go.

Gene, if you leave those Busses and other big blades at home, I will have to pour water on any sparks you may get while practicing. And I shall do it for the whole weekend. :D

We'll have various LEOs from several states as attendees of the gathering, and they will be bringing the big blades, too. Having them around will certianly allay any fears on the part of others.

OK then!:D I guess its back to plan A..the whole kit and kabutal. Brian, I think that its gonna be hard enough starting a fire with mother nature dropping on me...so I will bring some big toys for you to chop with.

Yeah, looks like rain coming Saturday afternoon late and into the night til Sunday morning. That's why I suggestted folks check the weather and pack accordingly!

NEWS FLASH! I JUST got off the phone with a friend who lives in Sharon,CT area and he told me a story that occurred a few weeks ago. Claims he was riding past M'SP on his way home from land his family owns nearby to M'SP and was flagged down by a local PD. PD told him a 'prisioner' was on the loose armed and not to stop and pick anyone up, but report same to them. I hope no one is planning on hitchhiking to this gig! LOL! The locals will probably be a bit uptight, and rightly so, since this occurred recently. So keep the blade flashing to a minimum around the sheeple....

I know J' always carries so he was'nt worried...his brother is a former USMC Sniper too.

Brian, do you know if Mercop was in on the Maryland Police officer shooting that occurred a few hours ago? Just want to make sure he's still attending is all...

Yikes between this and the presidential visit I think I'll wear a business suit. :D

mercop was not in on it. His attendance is not certain, though...nothing serious...he just may have another thing he needs to do first that interfereswith the sched.

29-38 does not really make such a differentiation. Given the statuatory verbiage, I personally would be leary to transport any 4+ knife if I did not fell into one of the enumerated exemptions- since it would be a matter of officer discretion. And, even if you are good with transporting it, taking it out could constitute a 53-206 violation if you did not meet a huntin/fishing/trapping exemption. Of course, I am known for taking a very strict look at the law...

Don't be surprised if LE does roll through if the campground if it is on state property- CSP is known to drive through at night.

As a last note, I am (obviously) not going to make this outing:( Other things I need to do this weekend (yeah, it sucks)....thus why I never sent Brian an email definitively saying I would be there. Hopefully there will be another gathering in the future/ this summer:cool: You guys will have a good trip, have fun.
