Anybody have any specs on this? Exact alloy content, heat treat specs, etc...

I've been searching and can't seem to find much info on it.

i jsut made a folder with it i have to find the specs and HT for you
Carpenter emailed me all the specs and HT data sheets of the steels they are looking to get to market

so far i can say it works well at the grinder and seems to take a good edge but since i have never used bg42 i cant say how it stacks up

Thanks, Butch. I just "appropriated" a piece of it, and am looking forward to trying it out. ;) :)

sorry for no update i have not tested it ageant BG42 as i dont have any of it but it seems to hold a goo edge and its a fine edge at that

Danbo,
You've got my attention. I love BG-42! I have never made anything with it, but have owned several knives with BG-42 and I loved them! I'll have to get myself some of this stuff and try it out.

Thanks for the heads up!

As far as i know folks at Bucks loved them and being constantly encored.
A good friend of mine here at BF speculated that with the rising cost of aviation (BG-42 is a big player) the stock has gone quadruple over the years. Let's just hope Carpenter is making the magic powder.

Meanwhile let me play with my BG-42 Vanguard. Probably the best looking bushcraft knife i've ever own.

Thank you Gordon!

from a working and grinding standpoint its about the same as XHP but the edge retension is better (to be expected with the extra alloying )
it is tho had for a compare from me on it as my XHP knives are kitchen work and the B75P is in a folder i use
both are also hardened to different specs (tho both with cryo )

I am going to give this a bump. Is there anyone with more experience with CTS-B75P? Finding knives or more opinion on this steel seems to be as hard as chicken teeth. If it is good as BG-42 I am surprised we are not seeing more knives in it as BG-42, to my knowledge, was a damn fine steel.

Just saw it is very similar to RWL-34/CPM-154 with added Vanadium and slightly more Carbon.

Tells me enough that I would probably love it.

the trick is getting the steel rolled out and to SB metals the drive has been XHP to get Carpenter more on the map (they have a few more steels that look great on paper but i have not tested yet )
im having a great time beating on a PD1 camp knife right now as its in the same ball park as 3v but more carbon an less V but added tungston

they can only produce so much steel and we are a nitch market so they slide the alloys we want in when they can (they are worth the wait )
give scott a call at SB metals to see wht he might have thats not listed
AKS has some listed
i kept getting a finger waved at me at Carpenter for caling it a powdered BG42 since they did change the alloy a little bit to make it grind and finish better while still have the edge retention that is the same or better

I just got a ZT 0600 that has B75P. It's so sharp you need to be careful when testing it out by shaving the hair on your arm. It'll lift skin too! Only had it a few days, I'll let ya know how it holds up.

hey Procrastinator... 3 years later.... aka 'living up to your name' ;-) ... how's that zt 0600 with b75p holding up?
