Anyone else have more questions ?

hiya edd!
The mad maxx is supposed to be out in early march.
don eargle, owner of Phoenix Blades has a number of them on order from camillus, and is taking orders for them now. he's a good fella that will set you up nicely. tell him maurice sent you. His price is 149.95 plus shipping and insurance.

Edd - the CUDA Maxx 5.5 is a big honker, definitely one of if not the larest factory folders made. It'll definitely fill up the pocket with its thick ti slabs. It's definitely built for heavy use. Think of it as a folding Bowie knife :)

Will it be offered in spear point? Will it only be offered with an aluminum handle with the blue purple tint?

nonbox - right now there are no plans to offer the CUDA Maxx in anything but a clip point blade and ti slabs. Maybe later on down the road, based on the sales of this one, Camillus might consider another blade style or maybe another size. So you guys...go out there and snap 'em up!! :D

As a lifelong Camillus fan the Maxx has my tongue hanging on the floor!!!
This is the first I've heard of this beauty.............

Would some please post some pic's and spec's ......Please!!!!!

Does this knife have pocket clip? Weight?? Etc........

OK gang,
Here are some answers in no particular order.....

CUDA MAXX 5.5....

They should begin shipping around March 1st, from our plant to our dealers.

We are only planning making the MAXX with the original design, the clip point bowie blade. Titanium frames, anodized.

Yup, its got a pocketclip.

I don't have the OAL handy, but its something over 12".

Here is a link to a thread with more pics and spec's...

Yup, its kewl, its badddd, and its coming out soon!

Will, Thank's so for posting pics and info. I was considering
a Bk7 or a Magnum camp but since neither were the correct knife
for my needs now I was at a bit of a loss to fill the need. It looked
as if I'd have to buy a large folding knife instead.

So I bought a pair of CCC 4 knives to augment my Camillus made
large stockman. Now the Maxx comes along and slides right into the
spot I was looking to fill with all the features to do the job. Super!!!

Will I buy one?? You bet!! Why? Because this is a knife I can actually
carry and use when I need a large blade without the issues of a fixed blade.
Not to mention that the maxx doesn't looks all wierd and "ninja" like some
of the large folding knives offered to day.

Camillus scores again!!!!!! Thank you very much........

In the spirit of keeping all MAXX questions to one thread, does anyone know the RC value on the D2 blade?

Thanks.

Yes!!! :D

I love the current Maxx. I would be even happier with a spearpoint version. I would be absolutely ecstatic with a recurve!

Then I'd like to see 4" versions... ;)

Ok,
Now for some answers!.....

Tightwad,
I'm glad we have a new knife to suit your needs. How you could have gotten the intended uses of the BK&T MAGNUM CAMP KNIFE and the CUDA MAXX 5.5 confused, probally seez more about the need for CAMILLUS to improve its advertising and website than the similarities of the two knives....we'll work on it:rolleyes:

Either way, glad to have you on board!

Geode,
The Crucible AIRDI-150 D2 Tool Steel used in the MAXX is heat treated and tempered to 60 Rc.

ghen,
Sorry man, no recurves for the MAXX...the handle is WAY to straight to get a recurve in with a tall enough grind.

bquinlan,
The original DDR MAD MAXX was designed around the clip point bowie blade...that is what the knife was intended to to be, a folding, coffin handled bowie. Trust me, I still have the emailed sketches around here somewhere. We haven't even started delivering the FIRST Maxx 5.5's yet, and ya'll want the second blade shape:rolleyes:

If ENOUGH MAXX fans buy the current model, we MAY consider another bladeshape.....NEXT YEAR. Fair enough? Until then, DDR will still make whatever bladeshape you want;)

PsychRN,
Your Welcome!

All kidding aside, thanks for the interest guys!

Hi Guys
Camillus will listen to all requests. The Madd Maxx was designed with the bowie blade. It is a classic design. Im sure with many requests, Camillus will listen! Time will tell.
In the mean time if you want something custom please let me know.

Enjoy!

The Maxx is the hottest new product of 2002. I think it will be the subject of discussion for some time. I hope the Maxx wins blade of the year!

for everyone wanting "other" blade shapes , would it be possible to gete DDR custom made blade to fit the cammilus handles ?

What do you say Darrel ?
