Hello all,

I'm wondering if any maker here has ever made cufflinks. Cufflinks are one of the few items a guy can wear every day and show some personality. Plus, I would think they would be interesting items to use left over pieces of MOP, stone, turttle shell, ivory, SS damascus, mokume, etc, etc...

Cheers,

JD

I've a feeling that most of us knife makers probably do not wear cufflinks on a daily basis. (but if we did we'd use Corby Bolts for cufflinks) So it may not have been thought of as a "by-product build item" for our scraps. but seriously... that's a great idea! hmmmmm some micarta cufflinks to match the handle on the edc super-tactical zombie de-animator knife for the sophisticated mall ninja might be a hot seller at gun shows LOL ;):foot::D

P.S. I know this may sound very tongue in cheek but I really do think it's a great idea!

There's a market for nice looking cufflinks, especially if they are really well made, preferably not the toggle kind.

I have made 4 sets since dec. here are some photos.

Robert,
I meant to follow up with you and ask how those cuff links are doing as to not making a dark spot on the cuff where they rub.
They do look nice, BTW.

I have not had any complaints from the customers. The first 2 sets went to a fellow that works in a jewelry store. He told me that it was not a problem.

Thanks Stacy

No, but I make belt buckles.
Buckles are easy, and I'm suprised more knifemakers don't do them.

I agree, buckles are worn by every knifemaker/bladesmith. They can also advertise what you do. A fairly plain piece of Damascus or mokume can make a stunning buckle that will sell for a good price.

Think anvil shaped buckles in bronze, hammer head shape buckles, .....
