here's a duplicate thread i posted over on Spyderco Forums....

I recently sent off a 52100 Mule Team to potterma for some permanent Cumaru (aka Brazilian Teak) handles which I finally received yesterday.
Taking the knife out of the green :spyder: box, I was amazed by the beauty and and "chatoyance" :p of the wooden handles... this is my first encounter with Cumaru wood.
In fact, i was actually "blown away" once I held the knife... the contoured slabs fit my hand perfectly, the sweet mosaic pins were a pleasant surprise....all in all a *stellar* job once again by the "master molester" :D thanx again Michael, outstanding job! :spyder:  :spyder:
The first two pix (the good ones) were taken by potterma, the handles seem a little "reddish" in color .... the actual shade of the wood (to my eye) is more brownish than red....
The other pix are mine...sorry about the lighting ...it's kinda overcast today... :o

BEEEEE U TEE!! At first, I thought that was a Busse! WHAT!! Thanks for the pics.

Beautiful Mule, There are some really talented people out there.

My Mule blade is starting to tarnish or whatever 52100 does. I've tryed wiping it with oil and cleaning it with Maas Metal Polish but it looks the same. Any thoughts on how to polish up the blade and keep it looking nice? Thanks

thanks muddog49......I just use Flitzpolish, and elbow grease...then I use Flitz gunwax....but in your case you might need some fine grit sandpaper  I 'm no expert on this subject...i hope others can offer you better advice...

Michael sure worked some magic on this Mule... I much prefer this new handle to the blue gauze tape  it's just another potterma "Cinderella Story" :D

Before  :o :

Beautiful Brian! Potterma does excellent work. With so many attractive woods out there, it's almost a shame so many knives come clad in plastic.

Is this knife still available from Spyderco?
The 52100 Mule Team knife sold out in less than a week. But the Mule Team is intended to be a series, something like the Kopa, only in this case each run will utilize a different steel. So, if you're interested, check back regularly, the next one probably won't last any longer than the first.

thanks Paul, I believe the Waterfall Bubinga has more "chadoyance" than the Cumaru :p getting Pottermized is somewhat addictive ;):D
