Cumberland Knives-Beware!

Last week I ordered a Benchmade 803 from cumberlandknives.com. I knew from reading previous posts that Cumberland did not update its website often, and so they sometimes did not have advertised knives. Regardless, I decided to give it a try.

After a week I had not received the knife, had not received any correspondence about it being shipped or being out of stock, and my checking account had not been debited for the purchase (I used a check card).

I e-mailed Cumberland knives and received the following reply:

"Sorry this knife is not available at this time. You have not been
charged. Thanks for your inquiry. Mary."

It didn't bother me so much that the knife was out of stock-it was discontinued by Benchmade some time ago. What bothered me was that Cumberland didn't bother to tell me that it was out of stock until I contacted them!

This is extremely poor customer service, and I will not deal with them again.

By the way, I found an 803 on e-bay for only a couple of dollars more. That vendor, gmknifeman, shipped the next day! I should have the knife early next week.

Just to make it clear. You are talking about cumberland knives and NOT cumberland knife works. Because ckw is the best.

I'll second that. Don't get confused and think it's CKW. CKW is very good. I have bought from them and would do so again.
