Cup runneth over: this leg vise already has a leg

Anvil prices have gone nuts the past couple years. I found mine at a blacksmith conference a couple years ago for $2.50/pound. You'll likely pay $3-$4/pound these days.

Yep, its crazy. I picked this up earlier this year. It was with a bunch of smith tools. One of those things that I don't really need but the price was good.

Ouch. But whenever I think I don't have enough tools, I remind myself of the samurai swords made with not much more than a sash weight on a stick and a railroad spike in a log. ( Of course that's an unfair description of their hammers, but it's dramatic). I have a block of steel for the rough stuff and a very beautifully made little anvil from a railroad rail for the fine stuff, so I'll be ok for a while.
Actually my brother has one...

Nice blower, garry3.
I've got an old single speed Sears. I try to use coke instead of coal as a courtesy to the neighbors, but you need to keep a constant blast so the hand cranked blower really won't do.
It started as a courtesy, but I think the coke burns hotter and longer than coal, and it goes out when you turn off the air, so you don't waste it. Great stuff, if you can just get it started.

Wow! Hefty blower. Is it variable speed? I love that look of that thing.

Its not variable speed. But I think I can hook it up to a rheostat. My current set up is a hand crank blower on a portable forge like a farrier would have used. I have also rebuilt a 4ft bellows. It was the most fun. Looked to be good but sucked as well as blowed. I took it apart and discovered a pack rat nest between the two chambers. A little tricky but it is a properly functioning bellows now.
The electric blower runs great. It is nice. If some one has a need for it give me a yell if you are in my neck of the woods. I well sell it to you for what I gave for it( I thought good at $27.00). Of coarse you would have to stay for supper and a couple drinks.
