they control the baldes like they do to prevent poorly mad knives with their name on them from being around looking bad and lowering the standords they have with the public...
All you say is quite true, and I didn't make myself very clear about my wishes...
So, let me re-phrase...I'd buy the various Buck models if more profile options, and more material options, were offered...No need to put a BG-42 112 in mass production; just cut out a few 442 profiles from the sheet of BG-42 in the Custom Shoppe, and mount them in 112 chassis...or 426 drop-point profiles from ATS-34 and offer them in 110 frames...from the Custom Shoppe; charge more for them to cover the extra time required for the custom request (just like the Custom Shopppe 110's). Nothing that requires any extra expenditure of resources or re-engineering or lengthy re-training. All readily do-able with the personnel & resources on hand. *If* there was any interest...
I have an ideal knife in mind, but it exists only in my mind. Perhaps some day I'll be able to make it from scratch, but until then, I'll just mix & match what I can and see if it looks good to me...
I can't order the Corvette *I* want either...so there is one in my garage that is close to what I want, but it also is a "work in progress" and I don't expect it to ever be truly "finished", as there is always something more I'd like...
