Hopefully my link works!
I have acquired this knife, I know a few things about it but also had a question as well.
I know it is a Sheffield silver and mother of pearl cake knife from 1897. The handle has (what appears to be) a Romanov crest, which would go along with the time period. However, I wonder if the crest was later added. It does not seem to meet the same age patina as all of the other metal on the knife. I also could find no other cake knifes in my research that had any thing adorning the handle.
If anyone has any thoughts or info on this please let me know!!
THANKS!!!
