My mother told me I walked down to where some young sailors were sitting and just stared at them. Finally one of the squids said, "Hi kid. How are ya?" and my reply was, "I know what you do." He kind of smiled and said, "What?" I replied, "You keep the ship clean for my father."
Naturally I went on active duty the day I turned 17 after I had been active reserve my entire life. USMC was my entire life to that point and still is a large point of it at age 70.
