Curious.. what does the C in USMC stand for?

When I was a little kid of about 5-6, our family was on a train headed for San Diego from Inneapolis. My father, a MSgt USMC, had just been transferred there. My mother told me I walked down to where some young sailors were sitting and just stared at them. Finally one of the squids said, "Hi kid. How are ya?" and my reply was, "I know what you do." He kind of smiled and said, "What?" I replied, "You keep the ship clean for my father."
Naturally I went on active duty the day I turned 17 after I had been active reserve my entire life. USMC was my entire life to that point and still is a large point of it at age 70.

Hell, that was'nt our choice! And that happened in, going by memory here, 1948, so the guilt-by-association thing with the Squids has'nt been constant since the Marine Corps inception in 1775.

I have a friend that enlisted in the Marines, around the same time I enlisted in the Army.

We had some arguments who was better, yadda, yadda.

He goes "Aint Really Marines Yet"

I couldnt think of anything and blurted out "OH YEAH? U SUCK MY C..."

He looked at me, I looked at him. And we both laughed. Its all good between the branches.

Yeah it is. We bicker like nuts but at the end of the day its all good. ;)
