Curious what the folks here think of this one.

Bingo.

Make sure to show us that Turkish twist piece with the mammoth.

Don't worry, that one will be shown all over once it's done. It may even end up being the first piece I send for real photos.... ;)

I've got a slightly larger version of the knife in the thread on the bench right now, I may add some inset scales to it. Only downside is that I'm post-HT on it so I'll be using carbide to drill the pin holes....

I like the shape very much. What if your billet was a bit thicker, so that you could add a crown to the shape of the handle area for ergonomics? Might make it to heavy for a necker, but would make a terrific small belt knife.

You mean sort of like a little integral? I could certainly forge one out and see what it turns into.

It would look great with wood inlayed but I also like it as is.

Email received! I'll have to see if I can make this work.

Hello Deker,

I found a nice piece of clean (pre-ban) elephant ivory, brought it to shape,
bolted it to the handle, had Jere Davidson engrave the bolts, and there you
are - a fancy little Integral... :)

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Beautiful work Dr. D! Amazing how you snuck it out of the case in my truck to do that overnight while I was asleep! :)

The next batch will have some slim scales on them. You guys have talked me into it. I wonder how mammoth tooth would hold up? I'll have to go look in the box-o-handle-material now....

Sadly I won't be making it to BLADE this year or I would certainly stop by and show you what I come up with. Rest assured I'll be posting more work as it is done. I really do value the feedback from you folks and will try to make the best use of it that I can.

Yes an integral, that way we would still retain a view of that purdy damascus.
Altho DDD's ivory version is the bomb.
