I want to share this story of abuse. It is hard for me to watch but this was one of the deciding factors in favor of a bk2. Please be aware that this is a trilogy and that you must watch all 3 all the way to the end to see the true power of both blades.
WARNING!!!
What you are about to see is not suitable for knife lovers.
bk2 vs rc5

I don't like how this guy makes his serrations...

I don't know man. His serration technique seems pretty efficient to me. You can do two knives in half the time.

It all ends well.

The whole thing about throwing vs batonning is one simple factor, you have ahold of the knife when you baton, or you should. Its harmonic resonance that causes the micro fractures. Vibrations, if you will, that a free "floating" knife has to endure when its thrown. Even if it sticks, the handle vibrates. When you strike a knife with a baton, your hand absorbs the shock.

I broke my first BK2, but it was purely negligence on my part. I was replacing some fence posts and dislodged the knife from its sheath as I climbed on the backhoe. When I finished digging the hole, I swung the auger to the side and dropped it on the blade. Snapped it like a twig. I kept the scales as spares and tossed the rest in the bottom of the hole. Thankfully, it was a Becker, so it wasn't an expensive mistake...

better dig that up :) could be a tweener or neck knife mod waiting to happen :>

I'm more surprised by the fact that the BK2 fell out of the sheath. Was yours a first gen kabar sheath?

No, it was a kydex sheath from one of the makers here. I'm pretty sure I didn't put the knife all the way in after the last time I used it. Plus, I'm a big guy (6'8", 260lbs) and the door on my backhoe is pretty small. Everything on my belt gets banged to hell when I'm climbing in and out of it all day on the fenceline.
