Curly Cue, purpose?

I have one curly cue Fiddleback...

I know exactly what the curly cue is for-- it's for looking at over and over again! As a matter of fact, it's so purty, it's hard to use the knife while I'm looking at the curly cue! It's a good thing I don't have a curly cue Runt, if I carried that in my pocket, I'd just have to look at it all day long and never get any work done!

And why not on a tapered tang? Skeered of a little quality hammer work?

I should have noted that it was just not possible at my own skill level. You might be able to pull that off, but not me.

Andy, Carl's right, you can run that thin taper right on out. You have the skill (probably just not the time). Leave it a shade thick and hit it light. My favorite look of yours, too.

Why not a split for a top and bottom, like an old Black Watch wheel lock pistol?
Yeah, you can do it....not so much skill level on your part, but time to practice. Something you just don't have.
I didn't mean to leave out the point that brother RLo made....My favorite as well.

If I have any left after Christmas, I'll bring some scribes down to the Twins in Feb. I forgot to get them out for you at Doc's.
Or, I can just make some up down there. I can steal a spring off one of their harrows.
