I carry one like this myself and find it about right for camp chores and field dressing large game.

Forged from 1/4 inch 5160
Flat grind
400 grit finish
Distal taper on the tang and blade
Curly maple handle stabilized in my shop
Overall length: 8 1/4 inches
Blade: 4 1/8 inches
Riveted leather scabbard

Steve: You may be new here, but that is just how you get one of Gerry's "Jewels"! He who hesitates is lost. It is unusual for one of his beauties to last a day, so you need to have the safety off, and the finger on the trigger! You will never regret it. Let us know when it arrives what your up close and personal impressions are!
 
Gerry I picked up my knife and sheath this morning and it is GREAT!!! It feels good in the hand and is extremely sharp. I will be using it on everything from Steelhead
to Michigan whitetails. Did I mention that I like the knife???:D
