Hey guys, I was wondering... Do you guys think the new griptilian is worth the price? Or did it loose it's market advantage, as it now costs around $100 more than it use to. Have people had experience with the new BM Barrage and thoughts on it? Also, I have been interested in the Benchmade Presidio, and Benchmade Axis Stryker (drop point blades) but, really don't see many reviews etc online. Does anybody have experience with them? They seem like great designs/models but, really it seems not many people talk about them despite them being around for a very long time.

I wouldn't pay that much for it personally, but the Stryker is great, and crooked river is on my list but I want to fondle one before I commit.

Yes I do. You already posted about how your plain jane 154CM Griptilian beat out a ZT in your test. So obviously one with G10 scales and a much much better steel would be worth the $100 (and more like $60-80 more in actual cost).

Check out the HK14715 / HK14716 if you are looking for value in a griptilian-esque folder.

I love my grips, but I rarely recommend them in general because I think their a bit overpriced.

I have little experience but i will say an original 910 is easily worth the price of plain griptilians on the bidding site. I do not see the new g10 griptilians worth the price as I don't see the plain ones worth it either unless benchmade has excellent customer support. Like really freakin good.

I agree..G10 and upgraded steel, It's worth it to me.

I think they are all overpriced at MAP. Not just benchmade either. My knives are users so they are just going to depreciate with time and use. Once in a long while I will buy a sprint or LE brand new but for the most part I just wait and buy my knives used. I love my benchmades and have four 551 griptilians. All are wearing g10. My 551-1 was $120. My limited edition Rei grip and Leo grip I paid $130 a piece. The other is a stock 154cm and has custom scales I picked up for $50. I have little disposable income so I'm cheap/frugal. I'm sure there are sellers on this site that get irritated by my "lowball" offers. I only offer what I can pay.
I really like the Stryker and have handled one at a brick and mortar store several times. I will probably try one out someday at the right price.

The 20CV is a great blade and I like the new g10 with the blue accents and barrel spacers. I think the new grips are worth it.
I have two "Frankengrips" with the new parts.
Black DLC 550 in 20CV with Camp Perry scales and Ritter M390 with new grey g10:

Alright, so seem to be pretty much split on the benchmade Griptilian updated prices(Slightly more in favour of increased in price for increase materials). What about the Axis Stryker, and Presidio? Anybody have more things to say about those knife models?

I really wish the g10 wasn't so smooth. Seems counter-intuitive to make a nice grippy material smooth like that.
I thought about getting a new Griptilian and sandblasting the scales, but never got around to it...

The plastic-handled grip is overpriced. Good knife, but it's much too expensive. The point of diminishing return is just after the $100 range for me. I don't collect 'em, I put 'em to work.

Whether or not it is worth it is up to YOU. It is to me; the the G-10 & CPM-CV20 are worth it.

Benchmade has it's great points
Just as there are thousands if not millions who would see it as more of a luxury brand.
I dunno, but it seems to me that benchmade has had its highs and lows over the years.
But in all honesty,
the main attraction of any knife generally lies primarily in its design or appearance,
So when one picks up a benchmade
It's a good thing that one hardly has to worry about the technical stuff
like top notch materials, superb finishing, etc.
It's all a matter of preference
In choice and fad.

I have a large Grip and a small Barrage in G10 and upgraded steel. I'm satisfied with their performance and I'm happy with what I paid for 'em (online dealers usual pricing). What I'd really like to see is an upgrade option on the Ritters for factory G10 scales on their M390 blades.
