Hello Knife Nuts,

I'm curious if you folks can shed light on which current Case models have a half stop? My Mini Trapper does but my new Canoe and Medium Stockman do not.

It's by no means a deal breaker for me or anything but I do like the half stop and am curious.

As always, thanks in advance.

:)

The Swayback Gents and Jacks that I have do have half stops, as do the Peanuts I have. I don't have the model numbers available right now.
The TB61028W CV Teardrop also has a half stop.

My recent peanut comes with a half stop. Unless they have changed something in the past year, my full sized trapper does not have a half-stop unlike your min-trapper.

Both of the Case Barlows I own have the square joints (half-stops). They were made in 2008 so if something has changed since then I couldn't tell you.

With Case knives, the use of square joints is part of the pattern. According to a Case representative, the following current production Case knives use square joints (half-stops).
"Here is a list of active patterns that have square joints:

'005 / '005 1/2 / '005RAZ - Barlow/Razor
'07 / '07W - Mini Trapper
'009 / '009 1/2 / '009RAZ - Barlow/Razor
'011 - Hawkbill
'052 - Medium Congress
'117 - Sway Back Gent/Jack
'15 - Small Gunstock
'156 - Tuxedo
'20 - Peanut
'43 - Grand Daddy Barlow
'49 - Copperhead
'546 / '546 1/2 - Back Pocket/Panama Trapper"

My post from 2013 was a direct copy paste from the Case Collector's Club forum, posted by a Case rep, and so I am assuming was accurate at that time. Some current patterns had not been introduced at that time.

I don't see the teardrop ('028?) on the list, but I assure you it has a solid half stop.

I'll add the Saddlehorn TB62110.
As Railsplitter mentioned...
The Saddlehorn has halfstops. It's one of my favorite Case patterns.

I just purchased a case stockman, June 2020, and it does not have a half stop. Nice, well-built knife, but would prefer it had a half stop. Was looking at listings on a variety of knife dealer sites and very few mention if the knife does, or does not have a half stop. That would be nice bit of information to know prior to buying. (hint, hint, to any dealers who are reading this post)

I suppose you have sufficient answers now. My Case knives with half stops are my mini trappers and my peanut. I definitely prefer no half stops.
