Hello,
Of course this seems to be as variable as the wind changing, but I'd be interested in what others have in their current EDC rotation. Not your safe queens, but the ones in the current rotation.
I'm a lanyard guy... Not for form, but function. So I have one on each of my EDCs, except the Striders, which keep cutting into them.. What's up with that??? Is it that hard to fix this flaw?
W=weight in ounces
CL=closed length in inches
OL=overall length in inches
  1. CRK Large Sebenza 21 - W:4.50 CL:4.75 OL:8.375 My trusted old Sebby w/Lignum Vitae inlays, pre-idaho stamp
  2. Strider SnG DGG RG DC - W:3.875 CL:4.688 OL:8.188
  3. Todd Begg Bodega - W:7.25 CL:5.25 OL:8.875 This is newer, and maybe too nice to work with, but knives are for cuttin'!
  4. MSC SnG - W:4.75 CL:4.688 OL:8.188 Best perfoming SnG I've encountered… Honestly I wish it didn't have a skull impregnated on it… but oh well!
  5. Strider SMF DGG DC - W:5.25 CL:5.125 OL:9.0 Sometimes I feel it's a tad too big, but it's there for now as it's smooth, solid, and rugged. SMF heaven.
  6. Strider SnG DGG SW 3/4 Grind - W:4.0 CL:4.688 OL:8.188 Love this one, smooth as can be.

I know I'm a bit Strider heavy in here, and I'm working out the SMF and possibly the SnG 3/4 grind, and replacing with prod XM-18 3/5"

What do you guys rotate through?
Warm Regards
Mick

Right now for me it's: Willumsen Tuco, BM53 or my Red AGR Cowboy.

DGG SMF, ZT 551, Demko 4Max(Talk about a little big!!) and a Les George VECP V1.

You do like big knives! Hey, the 551... do you find that hard to deploy? I had one a it was extremely tight. Then I got the 550, same thing. Now I have a 0560, and I'm in heaven with it. I would've included in my EDC stable, but I sent it to a buddy (RiverRat84) to check out for a couple weeks. Perhaps I just got tough ones? My 560 has the same steel (Elmax) as your 551. How do you like the Elmax? I find it holds an edge pretty well, and sharpens up wicked sharp pretty easily.

Hey, I believe the Tuco has the bearing type pivot (IKBS), yes? I love that pivot system. My Bodega has it, and it's such a pleasure deploying it.

adler- Yes, the Tuco has the IKBS. :) I went with a 1/2 G10, 1/2 Ti handle and... a chisel ground blade.
Thanks.

Here is my current "stable" (I like that term). . .

nylon sheathed steel ball bearings for a fast and smooth operation. Strong detent, strong secure lock up and zero blade play in any direction.

Small Sebenza 21 Insingo (you know the specs!)

Large Regular Sebenza (you know the specs!)

Here are some pics. . . I included a pic of my 1 YO European Dobe "Piper." Adlerburg--your Dobe is beautiful!

I have a little variety in my EDC rotation:
Spyderco Para 2 M390 Sprint
Spyderco Tenacious Sprint
Kershaw Blur S30V
Benchmade Leopard (ATS34!)
Benchmade 913 Stryker
Benchmade 581 Barrage M390
Bradley Alias I G10/Ti S30V

On my wish list is a Spyderco Gayle Bradley.

Spyderco Manix 2
Kershaw CF Blur
Mcusta Tactility
Kershaw Skyline
CRKT Ken Onion Ripple

Soon to add my new Spyderco Para 2.

My rotation tends to include Benchmade Kulgera, Onslaught, Rukus, and neck knife, ZT 561 and 301 (when my wife doesn't have it, which is rarely), a couple of Kershaw frankenLeeks, a Spyderco Kumo, Hankins kiridashi, Leatherman Juice S2, and soon a CRK Umnumzaan.

I don't pull knives from my collection to build an EDC rotation. I rotate directly from my collection of about 170 knives (Spyderco Heavy). My knives are stored in 6 SpyderPacs seperated by knife brand, and I open a different pac each day and grab the next knife in line. That way I switch knife brands almost daily as well as knives. The only exception to this rule is if I'm going to be working in a harsh environment or doing a job that will require a heavy use knife. In that case I just pick something stout from the collection and drop back into my rotation the next day.

The ZT0550 is pretty new (got it a couple weeks ago). Not sure if it's going to stay in the regular lineup, mainly due to size. I've been carrying it pretty regularly since I got it though. The other four have been my main EDC rotation for a while. The Mini-Grip w/ Wilkins scales was the most recent addition, which replaced a regular Mini-Grip (OD scales w/ D2 blade).

For the most part, I agree .. but there is justification for safe queens. For example, when my brother John was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain, I had his name, dept, and shield etched into the blade. I'm sure that won't be in an edc rotation. And I had a Strider special edition "Striderflage" that would be silly to use as an edc. So there are exceptions that make sense.

That SNG digi looks nice! ;)

Yeah.. I got it from a direct descendant of President Jefferson Davis... same initials too! :)

Hey Flarp.. How do you find the action on the 550? I had both 551 and 550, and found it difficult to deploy. Then I got the 560, and it's a whole new ZT world! Also, love the Leek! That slim lil ol' baby spent many a day with me!

Theres no real fixed rotation, just whatever suits my fancy or needs for the day.
Hey Mark... what do you think of the Lil' Seb Insingo? I've stayed away from the Insingos as the shape just looked too strange for me... but my bud RiverRat84 who's CRK fanatic said he felt the same way until he got one, and absolutely loves it. Your thoughts on the Insingo... compared to a standard Sebby?

Cool an opinel. I'm thinking of getting my dad a monogrammed one for christmas, any suggestions? I like that insingo. Looks easy to sharpen as i have a tough time going through the belly neatly.

It took some getting used to, but once you learn the trick, it is incredibly smooth. I had to adjust my grip on the knife to open it. Previously, I had my index finger (I'm right-handed) gripping the lockbar opposite the thumbstud. That additional pressure on the lockbar from my index finger made it nearly impossible to overcome the detent (even two-handed, pulling fairly hard on the blade). I adjusted by raising my index finger up past the lockbar (onto the flat area of the Ti slab by the pivot screw) and lowered my middle finger (gripping near the tip of the pocket clip, next to the lockbar cutout), and now it opens easily and super-smooth (after a little bit of breaking in).

Even a very slight amount of additional pressure on the lockbar makes the knife extraordinarily difficult to open, so you'll have to play around with adjusting your grip to find a position that works for you. I think a flipper opening mechanism on the 0550 would have been fantastic, but it is what it is. The 0550 is still a really awesome knife though.

The Leek really is a fantastic EDC design. It's so slim that don't really even notice that it's there. I don't see that one falling out of the rotation any time soon.

I've got 12 I've been rotating between and that seems like too many for any one of them to get
much carry time. I may sell a couple of the mid techs and buy another custom ti framelock.
