Current New York knife laws?

4" limit folding or fixed in suffolk county? ,,as far as fixed is concerned, concealed or open?

Suffolk has no blade limit nor does the state. NYC is the only one that has a restrcition to carry the knife concealed. Make sure there are no town or village laws ( I don't think there are). If you carry a large fixed blade, it maybe legal but will draw attention if you are not engaged in sporting activites or work where such a knife is needed. Any knife carried as a weapon ( even self defense) is then a dangerous knife and therefore illegal......Your knife is always a tool for work or sport use or daily chores or don't carry it....Certain blade types are considered weapons ( dagger and tanto)....
 
I live on Long Island in Nassau County, with a 40 minute train commute to school in the city. Anywhere on Long Island, clips aren't a problem, I've never had or heard of a single knife issue on Long Island. My big CRKT m16 is the largest folder I own, and it's still under 4" so I'm good to carry what I please. But for the city, it's either a slipjoint, or a leatherman (I'm a fine arts and tv production student, leatherman seems to get more use time). I NEVER dare to clip anything to my pocket. I debated clipping a pen I carry to my pocket so I don't lose it when I sit down, but if cops are as jumpy as I heard they are then I'll just skip the potential time wasting of getting pulled over during my commute by leaving it in my backpack. Everywhere in ny except NYC I believe the law is just no carrying autos. There is not a blade length restriction or a carrying restriction
 
i live in brooklyn and i stopped carrying my ZT0301 to avoid any problems with the police. having an assisted opening blade will get me arrested and possibly charged with cpw (criminal possession of a weapon). I am going to take the NYPD entrance exam and having any blemish on my record will ruin my plans so its a uk penknife for now because its just not worth it
