current production schedule updates.

Exciting day today! Happy for those who snatched a 5. I hope those who missed out can stay patient for a 5.1 or 4.7.

Foxtrot, congratulations. Cool to hear that jade 5 is staying in the family!

I had to screenshot this beast!

Standard, you beat me to it :)

This is from the website, the 5.1 page has been updated.
All these dark colors are getting me hot and bothered. What are we even looking at? What color is that handle?

Standard, in your pic is that sheath a new shade or is it just the lighting?

I'm guessing those are green linen scales and a coyote sheath. It's hard to tell the sheath color though. All I know is I want it!! I'm getting more and more excited about the 4.7 after seeing this one all put together!

Man, the color of the steel in that lighting is beyond my wildest dreams. That all looks so good. I bet you're right on the colors.

I'm really liking how contoured the scales look in that pommel shot! The sheath looks a bit skinnier also.

I can't wait for the new spec knife reviews to start hitting the web! This beast looks so sexy!

GSO-5.1 in CPM-20CV with green canvas handles, black oxide fasteners and a coyote kydex sheath. The scales and sheath had both just been oiled so they are a little darker.

We have a handful of "sample" sheaths for the GSO-5.1 but no clips yet. Until they arrive, we are doing our best to get a bit ahead on those GSO-5.1 preorders. Tracking numbers should start heading out soon.

Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. I can't wait for you guys to have these new models in your hands so you can experience what I felt earlier today. We were somewhat speechless in the workshop.

Thanks, Ellie! I can't wait to see the new clips. This is such an exciting time. The new stuff looks so good :thumb up:

Veering dangerously off topic......... is there a right way or wrong way to oil micarta scales? How long is needed to dry before use?

Lastly, is oiling kydex a thing? I wouldn't think the plastic would really accept an oil. Is it like bodybuilders tanning and oiling up before competition? Just for looks?

I use mineral oil on my scales before I put it away. I usually wait a day or so or it could collect dust.

And yea o think they just oiled the kiahdex to make it look sexy. Lol. I worked either way.

I don't think there is a wrong way to oil micarta. We just use a rag to wipe the scales down before building the knives. I will say that if you've gone through the trouble of taking the handles off to oil them, put them back on the blade before the oil dries back. You definitely want that layer of oil between the blade and the handle.

We oil the kydex for the same reason we oil the handles, to clean them up. The sheaths pick up dust from the manufacturing process or get scuffs in transit. A quick oiling cleans that all up and really makes the colors look nice and crisp. They also don't seem to pick up scuff marks as readily. I thinks it is probably comparable to Armor All in a car.

I do need to say again that those pics of the new 5.1 are seriously amazing! We love where things are headed!

Should be another newsletter heading out this evening or first thing tomorrow. I still need to get product pages setup and put together the newsletter. Timing will just depend on how many times the dogs start making a fuss or other various distractions.
