Time for a major upgrade
After a couple of years making radius platens out of hardox wear resistant steel its time to improve that.
Carbide radius platens!
After some trial and error with the manufacturing, it worked out to make these possible.
It starts out as a 16mm thick carbide block of 150mm in length 6ā and 50mm 2ā wide.
After making that block it gets cut to shape with edm wire cutting technology. After that the outer curve gets machined too ensure a smooth finish.
These can be mounted on the radius platens i already made for a couple of years:
14ā radius / 28ā diameter
29ā radius / 58ā diameter
Can take orders for the 24ā and 36ā radius aswell. For the us people who have the ameribrade or behnke radius platen.
Mounting will be done with 3m heat resistant doublesided tape, wich will be provided on the platens.
Since the costs of tungsten powder and manufacturing are pretty high i will make the curved carbides available in 150mm in length / 6ā.
This will give you enough room to work with and will be plenty for making s-grinds and hollow grinds.
The curved carbides are 3mm thick, same thickness as the flat carbide platens.
Price for a curved carbide platen will be 225ā¬ and when buying a set it will be set at 215ā¬ each.
For now i only have one set.
They can now be pre ordered untill 29th of august. At that date i will do a bulk order for them. From that date when i order them it will take around 8 weeks max before i can ship them out to all who pre ordered them.
