Hey guys, I had originally planned on ordering a set of swimming pool green scales for my ritter mini from kevin wilkins but unfortunately I waited too long and they are now out of stock. I have since decided I would have a custom set made by cuscadi but I have no idea where to start. I have contacted cuscadi and am awaiting a reply but in the meantime I'd love to see some pictures of some custom cuscadi scales so I can get a better idea of the options that are out there. Also, does anyone know what "carbon fiber micarta" actually is?

Very nice, that regrind looks exceptional as well. I thought about just getting the black g10 but I think if I'm going to drop the coin I want something a little more unique and exotic. I'm definitely going with a blue glow back spacer, I know that much...

aero carbon - this is a teaser Luke sent me.
Let me know if you want more pics.

Looking good guys. Anybody have any idea what cf micatra looks like without the scallops cut into it?

Yeah, mine is a mini grip, 558DLCM4. And the scales are contoured carbon fiber, lately all I've seen from cuscadi are the flat ones.

How does one get ahold of Cuscadi? I am wondering if he would do a new set of scales with a clip for my Jeff Hall folder? Info appreciated. keepem sharp

Definitely, I think the only pics of contoured cf I have seen are yours. If you don't mind I'd like to use one of your pics to send to luke to give him an idea of what I would like. The cf they use has too wide of a weave for my liking on flat slabs so I am thinking contoured it the way to go.

Click the " kontact" link on their website. My German is nearly nonexistant but I figured out that much...lol. no worries, they speak English.

Well guys, here is the description of cf micarta Luke from cuscadi sent me.

" It´s a compound like g10 or micarta, based on glass fibre with additional layers of cf. the sheets are made in a vacuum and get pressed with 30 tons of pressure. high end stuff for electronic parts. our main business got a listing for that so we can offer it for our handles.

acid resistant, temp proof up to 500°C, almost unbreakable and last but not least very nice to grab. it feels better than regular g10 and not as cold as carbon fibre."

Sure, go right ahead.

I see that several of you are rockin' Cuscadi scales on Doug Ritter versions of the mini grip. I contacted Cuscadi a few days ago to see if they could make some custom scales and a spacer for me and Luke, very politely I might add, explained that they wouldn't be able to do it because the Doug Ritter mini grip has full steel liners. As near as I can tell, most mini grips have full steel liners. So what gives? I really like their work and would love to trick out my knife. How did you DR mini grip owners get Luke to make you custom scales and spacers?

Thanks for any help you can give.

There must have been some kind of confusion. I am currently rocking Cuscadi cf micarta scales on my Ritter mini right now. The only difference between the standard grip models and the ritters is the blade.

I would call Luke back, if I were you.
There is definitely a misunderstanding there somewhere.
Let us know what you find.

Thanks for the help, guys. I emailed him again. I'm trying not to be pushy with him, I just really like his work and want it to dress up my Ritter. I'm wondering if maybe part of the problem, aside from the language barrier, is that I want a custom spacer in addition to scales.
