Cuscadi custom scales

Thanks for the help, guys. I emailed him again. I'm trying not to be pushy with him, I just really like his work and want it to dress up my Ritter. I'm wondering if maybe part of the problem, aside from the language barrier, is that I want a custom spacer in addition to scales.

The spacer is not the problem, the backspace is required. The backspacer on mine is glow in the dark blue. If it comes down to it, just say you have a regular mini grip. The scales will be the same, I promise.

I heard back from Luke...this is what he told me:

"there is a special run made for knifeworks...i only want to make sure the scales do fit your very knife...that´s it..
the video shows the main difference which is the full liners on the knifeworks special run, while the "standard" griptilian has the nested one."

So I guess I'm just going to order them and hope that they fit.

Any more words of wisdom?

email him some of the pics posted here of ritters with cuscadi scales. I'm still not quite sure what the problem is. Both the full sized grip and the full sized Ritter have nested half liners to house the axis lock, the minis of both regular and Ritter variety have full nested steel liners. I have a Ritter mini with cuscadi scales as well as a standard mini grip with the stock scales sitting right next to me and as far as I can tell, the liners are identical. Maybe using Benchmade's model number (558 in the case of the Ritter mini) when talking to luck rather than the name will help clear us some confusion. It just seems strange that he would be fighting it this hard as he agreed immediately to do scales for my Ritter mini.

I would love to have a link to the video he has mentioned!
I make scales for the mini's & full size Grips & Ritters all the time and I am unaware of any version that has full liners.
Please post back here with any info leading to a "special run".
Time to do a little search of my own.

I've been waiting for Cuscadi to get their hands on an 0560 for a few weeks to make some scales for me..I'm debating just sending my knife to Deutschland.

I'm in love with these....

Just wondering what is a set of CF Micarta scales worth from cuscadi??

Mine cost me 85euro, I think it was about $107 at the time. Definitely worth it though, they do very nice work.

OK, So I contacted Luke and you were right 85euro. no issues with the price if they're as good as i've read.

One thing i did ask was about the coloring difference in the cf micarta. i much prefer the distressed grey look of the raw micarta over the dark black of the polished versions (you can see the diff in his gallery) but have no experience with micarta. does anyone know if the raw finish is still smooth? I would like it to look rough but not feel rough, if that makes sense?

Well guys, here is the description of cf micarta Luke from cuscadi sent me.

" It´s a compound like g10 or micarta, based on glass fibre with additional layers of cf. the sheets are made in a vacuum and get pressed with 30 tons of pressure. high end stuff for electronic parts. our main business got a listing for that so we can offer it for our handles.

acid resistant, temp proof up to 500°C, almost unbreakable and last but not least very nice to grab. it feels better than regular g10 and not as cold as carbon fibre."

First of all, I apologize for resurrecting this 'dead thread', but I believe it is more appropriate to add to an existing searchable thread when I have a comment that directly relates to something in it, rather than starting a new thread...

Anyway. I just got a set of CF Micarta scales from Cuscadi for my Mini Grip, and my immediate impression was that they feel like plastic, quite similar to the standard Griptilian Noryl GTX/plastic scales (the worst scales in existence, IMO)... they DEFINITELY don't feel better than regular G10. Hopefully, once I get them on the knife, my opinion will improve...
