Well,

I am interested in some scales for a Benchmade 556 and I have to say I am not sure Cuscadi is going to work. I sent an e-mail asking for a price on G10 scales.

The subject line was "Subject: Benchmade 556 G10 scales"

In the body of the e-mail I wrote

I am interested in G10 scales for a Benchmade 556. What is the price and how
do I order?

Thanks

Mark

Hey Mark,

thanks a lot for your email.
what material do you want to get the scales to be made of?

let me know so i can get you an estimate!

best,

Luke

Am I crazy or did the rep not even read my e-mail.

I have cuscadi scales for a Griptillian and a mini griptillian and honestly, Luke probably was short on time. they are great people and do great work. It does take a bit to get a price out of them though but the work is worth it. I like their work better than the wilkins grips.

Their work is first rate. Just reply polietly. I've had never problems and scales I got to Victorinox are great.

Luke at Cuscadi is great! I have had him make some Benchmade custom scales and the work is outstanding!! He is very nice to deal with and you will get what you order, and get it fast!

I guess he had his dinner nap before he answered:)

Only a suggestion, maybe specifying a colour and back spacer material could affect price and availability hence the "what material"..??

He does many different configurations and the small details will be important.

I have only heard good things about Cuscadi, let us know how you go.:)

Some of the nicest custom scales around. For the response who knows maybe a few too many......:D:D:D.......beers.If I'm not mistaken he's based in Germany where it's presently Oktoberfest as of last saturday and lasts two weeks.

Still no return response. I sent another reply to Luke's e-mail. Just looking for a price for G10 scales. It seems simple to me. I am not sure why they do not set up an option page on the site where you click the options with corresponding costs and you eventually get a price and a plan for the production department.

sure, seems simple but you just have to work with them. i got a very nice set of micarta scales for my grip but it took several emails to get everything ironed out. sometimes it took a little while to get a reply but eventually it all got worked out

You're not crazy, and he did not read your mail properly. Now just tell him "G-10, like I said in both the body and subject of my email." and you will get a very high quality product.
Oh, he's probably gonna ask you what color you'd like. ;)

I have had scales made by Cuscadi for a minigrip in CF with a glow back spacer, and IIRC, it was around $100, shipped from Germany.

I did a review of some scales I got from him, for my Spyderco Mule...

A couple of things to bear in mind.... English is likely not his first language, he is probably busier than a one-legged man in an butt-kicking contest, and like has been said, there is a good deal of variety when it comes to G-10.

Good Luck, and remember, "Pics, or It Didn't Happen".

Kind Regards,
Marion

Something may have been lost in translation. He may have meant what color G10 or something along those lines.

I had a mini-grip fitted with cocobolo scales by Cuscadi and have nothing but good experiences with them. As said earlier, Lucas can be a very busy man, so I wouldn't worry about it. Go right ahead with it, I think you won't be disappointed.

I looked at Cuscadi's site and he has some very impressive grips.
I wished someone would make an "affordable" (~$50) set of grips for the Griptilian.

I had a set of Cuscadi G10 Mini-Grip scales. If I recall correctly they were 80 euros shipped (something like $107 at the time). They definitely took a long time getting to me though.

I first emailed with my order on May 21, I was told my scales would be shipped the week of June 30, scales were only completed on July 17, and I received them on July 27, so that's a bit over 2 months.

I can't say I was pleased with how long it took, but payment wasn't made til the scales were made, so it's not like my money was tied up.

I did like the scales a bit, but comparing them to my other mini-grip with Wilkins, I'd take the Wilkins. The nice thing with Cuscadi's scales were how slim they made the knife and they don't obstruct the axis bar like Wilkins do.

Well, I stil cannot get a price. Here is the latest e-mail. I received the e-mail he speaks of it just did not answer any questions,

Hey Mark,

i wrote you an email the other day.
please check your spam folder if the mail got marked as spam.

like i wrote before, our distributor ran out of black g10 in 4mm.
same thing with the orange sheets.
we could offer you a thinner set which comes with 3,5mm slabs.

i for one would go for CF micarta instead of the g10.
it´s probably the strongest handled material besides titan.

what do you think?
