Custom axe display

That's beautiful! With my tongue in cheek I want to caution if you're too careful with finishing the display it will draw attention away from the axes.

RC, that first coat may be acting as little more than a sanding sealer especially if there is nothing under it with all that end grain. I hope that the application went well for you?

Final product, I'm pleased with it. Now to figure out which room and wall to hang it on, then on to the next piece to hang the rest of them.

If you want more bling a carnuba based paste wax will probably do that.
I think it's beautiful. I was a little concerned about you. Lots of ways to mess up a finish and those large flat surfaces can be more than a little tricky. Very glad you are happy with it!
