custom becker (pics)

Eero,
Sorry for the pistol in the pics. I had thought of taking these pics when someone posted a thread about the BK2 being heavy and too thick. I thought I should take pics of my two heavy weights. That little Stingray-C is 2.3lbs (unloaded) of steel baby!!!!

What is there to be sorry about? Is the little Stingray really that much weight. Can't be as bad as my Kimber Custom .45ACP.:D

Hahaha, yes that stingray does weigh that much. It's the older model, not the newer one that is slightly lighter. I bet that Kimber Custom is mighty fine lookin!!!!! I've always admired a fine 1911 but have sold everyone I've ever owned. I just don't shoot them well....funny coming from someone whom shoots Glocks well right?! Feel free to PM me a pic of your Kimber.....or post it up here with a custom Becker :).

Hey I was a little slow on my response but here is a crappy tablet picture.

Here is s a better picture I took years ago. Only difference is there is even more finish wear at this point after thousands of more rounds being shot through it and years more carry. Love this pistol.

Greebe,
Freaking fantastic 1911. Love the wear from actual use! So many people seem to never shoot their guns and it's nice to see someone else that likes putting rounds down the tube.

Darkside,
Beautiful spoon handles. Did the wife ever yell at you for that?

Don't know if I've posted these here, and too lazy to check.

man, GSoM, that 4 looks so good, I went ahead and clicked on the link...nice job! It looks like a modern-day Kopis, something to scream "Sparta!!!" while hacking away...I might have to do something to mine, haven't used it too much.

I was not overly jazzed with it before. 'Twas OK, but now it just begs me to chop with it. And that thin section does offer a LOT of control. It's one of my favorites now, rigged it up on my daypack with my 12 on the other side. I'd say go for it. You've got the skills. Now I am trying to figure out making some kydex for it; stock sheath has NO retention without the straps....

I made a kydex sheath for my 4, it's kinda tricky when you work recurves but not impossible. Put the 4 over some thick cardboard and trace the curve from the ricasso all the way to the widest point of the belly. Draw a straight line back from that point towards the handle (but keeping the same width as the belly) and then cut that piece of cardboard, tape it in that position to the blade, essentially filling up the gap and allowing space for it to be drawn out. Let me see if I can find the pics.

GSoM, here's how the kydex for the 4 looks

the knife "pocket" inside the sheath is straight, kept like that with the cardboard "filler" at pressing the hot kydex

I know that azwelke makes an open-backed sheath, but I don't like that style. Seems like you have to be very precise when re-holstering, and the potential for slicing yourself in the dark seems quite high. Not knocking on his work, don't have stuff from him but everybody who has is a happy camper. I just like mine better :D

I have a sheath from Al and it's the bomb. But I didn't want open back either. Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting up these pics and the hints - I keep thinking something more sturdy like 5mm lauan, but couldn't figure out how to make it work. That is some damn fine work there, zuluninja.
