Custom Bottle Opener and Pocket Prybar

Yeah, I was thinking of that Laurence. That's the natural spot for it. But what I'd really like to do is make one scale removable and then insert a utility blade in there for a real seatbelt-paracord-plastic slicer. I'm thinking the little sections of a large breakaway blade razor klnife might be just the right size.

I've decided against the sharpened edge on the blade idea for now because I think I have to be careful of making it too much. It's a simple prybar tool primarily so it should be that first and then all the other ideas have to be added very carefully.

Here's all the other ideas that I have so far of what could be added to this tool. Some are really good and I'm wondering what would be the most worthwhile or feasible. Thanks to all on this forum and on USN for coming up with and adding to the ideas!

1) SAK Tweezers
2) SAK pen
3) band breaker for crates
4) wire stripper I've tested it already and it works.
5) nail puller It works well already although it works better with a bend in the blade.
6) screwdriver on the butt end
7) DMT sharpener YES!
8) seat belt slicer, going to definitely do something even if it's just a gut hook
9) LED light
10) paint chipper/scraper/chisel edge
11) tapered slot for engaging nuts and bolts
12) bottle opener space shaped like 1/4-20 bolt head
13) universal tapered butt end to fit phillips. It might work this way already, it's pretty small.
14) Range finder holes in the blade....does this work and is it worth considering?
15) ruler edge
16) magnesium fire striker screwed to handle

What's worth trying?

Whew, Peter, that DMT was a stroke of genius.

This is going to be a sweet little tool when you get all the features set and the details ironed out.

Nice job!

Oh, yeah- the range holes do work. You view an object through a hole using a set length of cord held to the end of your nose and you extend the tool away from you to the end of the cord and view the object through a hole it just fits into.

The holes are supposed to be calibrated to a fixed size object (say 5 feet tall) at different distances, always viewed with the cord extended fully and touching the end of your nose.

is this for survey type work or are we talking targeting? the blade in the handle may work peter but not for seat belt slicing. you need to be able to grab slice and go. like when the vehicle is filling up with water. the paint chipper goes with the paint can opener and pry bar. part of this is also is who you want to market these to. if you want to have a bunch made overseas and have them at the paint hardware stores? you can go nuts and put a mini parachute and folding deer rilfe in too! but its best to specialize alittle more than that.

I'm working on it. Talked to DMT this morning and hopefully will be getting some stones in bulk from them. Nice folks.

I'm in the middle of switching to a new computer so scanning is not possible tonight but I'll post the little one I made today. It's so cute I can't stand it and even the wife was impressed. If it passed the Jenny test then you know it has curb appeal!!  :D :D
