Hello, I have a New/Semi finished Heafner model #17 "KIT" www.heafnerknives.com
The knife comes completely ground and hardened but unsharpened and with semi fitted micarta handle slabs.
You will need to: sand/finish the handle portion of the knife tang, pin or use male-female handle screws with some kind of epoxy and attach slabs to the knife. Then do the final hand sanding/fitting and finish the knife how You'd like, polish/beadblast etc.. These make Awesome camp knives(see link below) and now You can put together Your own custom one
