In the southeastern US several dealers at gun and knife shows are selling custom automatic "switchblade" version Buck 110's and 112's. The initials CMK are etched on the blade. These knives appear to be well made. Does Buck know who is doing the custom work?

Thanks!

ScottK,
I don't know who is converting these knives but I know someone who does. His name is Jim Davis, of Sun Valley Knives in Phoenix, AZ. His number is 1-602-876-8349.

He sells these knives and has a good selection. Even some Yellowhorse models. Give him a call and tell him I referred you to him. He should be able to tell you who is doing the work.

I would carry these knives in my store and at the shows, but California laws being what they are makes that tough.

Good luck.

Dennis

Please excuse the crayon. They won't let us have anything sharp in here.

Hi Scott
The name you are searching for is Cumberland Mountain Knife and tool. And you are right, the knives look as though they came from the Buck Factory.
Dave

Since you paid for a Platinum membership, and spent a lot of time. Maybe you could stick around and see if there might be something you'd like to learn about Buck knives or knives in general.

There are many factors in pricing anything. Buck knives are no exception. Especially ones that have been modified.

Most of us that collect Buck knives want them as original as possible.

Buck only recently(2017, I think) came out with their factory made automatics. These carry the Buck Lifetime Warranty, which for an automatic is a very good thing. Anything that alters the original voids the warranty.

And again thank you pjsjr
I am pretty sure they are 1997 and a 1995 and I thought I was on to something with a automatic buck but as you say they have been modified

I have about 20 of these that I need to sale and some other knives also but I just need to figure out prices and how to go about getting this accomplished

I am a coin collector and I guess this was part of the deal 10-12 years ago and I am good at coins but have no interest in knives

I joined two reason to support because somebody goes thru alot of trouble looks like keeping this forum up from all the people I saw that is banned every minute and to try find value on knives and sale to somebody on here or TGT

Thanks again for helping me out with a reply

Hello again Maddiedou.

I did a little research on the knives pictured, specifically checking sold prices at Arizona Customs (one of the best sources for pricing on pre-owned knives). They sell a fair amount of Buck auto conversions.

The one that stands out to me is the left handed one as these tend to be more rare. AC sold a left handed one very similar to yours (same style button and a lock pivot screw) for $250 this past May. I would use that as a price guide.

As for the other Buck conversions, AC sells them typically under $200, with one model 112 I see that sold for $100 (the lowest price). Condition, function, and how well the conversion was done counts for a lot in the pricing.

I don't know what "C.M.K E.K." stands for, but I see AC sold a Buck conversion with that marking. But that model of Buck (titanium) is very different from yours so the price wouldn't apply. AC has that knife listed as a "Cumberland Mountain Knife & Tool" brand.

AC has sold every Buck auto conversion they have listed, so that's a good sign regarding desirability of these knives among buyers.

As far as the knife on the far right, that is a M.O.D. (Masters of Defense) Tempest. AC sold one just like it (partially serrated) in 2021 for $295.

I am trying to abide by the list of instructions you gave me initially so I will try to go off these numbers minus 20 percent as long as shopping aint that much

I will know more on monday because I have to ship 3 knives out

So what I am gathering is. 150.00 for rh bucks. And 200 for lh buck and 240 for michael jnick plus if i can figure out shipping and add to price or just eat it

Is these numbers above that I quoted correct where these knives can be moved quickly

Now killgar and I doubt you want any but if you want something for all your help. Pm me and I will cut you a good deal

Or if the numbers are not correct yall tell me a number that will sale the bucks and if interested yall can be the first choice the people that have all responded to this thread

I'd say your prices are quite reasonable, bearing in mind that I haven't examined the knives, and of course the market place will ultimately decide. They do appear to be in very good condition. If they don't sell for the price you ask you always have the option of lowering the price.

If you sell here at Bladeforums you could simply post a total price on any individual knife and say "shipping included".

As far as shipping, lately I've been using small US Postal flat-rate boxes (free at the post office). It costs around $9 to ship one anywhere in the US with $100 worth of insurance included plus a tracking number. I don't know if you've ever shipped a knife before, but I never tell the postal workers what I'm shipping. They only ask if it's hazardous material, etc. They don't need to know I'm shipping switchblades (that's what I make and sell).

Just be sure to use a lot of packing material in the boxes with the knives so they can't move around (crumpled newspaper is good enough). And since they are autos, I would strongly recommend wrapping the closed knives with rubber bands so they don't accidentally open in the boxes when they get bounced around the postal system. If the knives have sheaths then I would wrap the closed sheaths with rubber bands with the knives inside.

All of the above shipping advice is the same if you use UPS or FedEx.

In regards to your offer, I appreciate the gesture, but it's not necessary, I like helping people on this forum. Besides, I have too many knives already, I'm looking to sell more of mine and lighten my load, so to speak :) .

Thanks I will reread the rules or instructions perse on selling and shipping that you initially sent me they were very detailed

Last thanks to everybody again and here are pictures of all the knives I am selling I know buck forum but they are all togethwr

And I will find the correct dorum to sale everything on

My advice would be to start a new thread in the switchblade sub-form, post the pics of the Bokers, Paragons, and the one with the Smith & Wesson, and ask for valuations there.- https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/automatic-knife-switchblades.688/

To start your own thread (in case you don't already know), click on the orange box that says "Post Thread" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the first page of any sub-form, and go from there.

The Benchmade is a Mel Pardue model 3000s. I've seen two exact models sell in 2021. One for $295 (Arizona Customs), and the other for $110 (another forum).

The model 3000s is a popular model. Including among aged, flamboyant rock stars (He's carrying a 3000s on his hip. I just happened to have this pic from another thread 😁 .)

With your Platinum membership you can sell on Blade Forum if the Bucks For Sale forum or the Knife Exchange - For Sale by Individuals - Automatics For Sale.

I'd suggest you post them there and not mention selling to anyone in this thread. If you're not sure on the price, put a higher price on then state you're open to best reasonable offer. Good luck.

Thank you. This is my last question for this go around

Onthe turquoise knife it has this kinda blade and none of the others has this on top. Is this some kinda special blade

That's commonly referred to as "file work". It's an embellishment/decoration that someone did by hand. If it's done well, by a well-known knife maker or knife customizer, it can increase the value of the knife, but that can be very subjective. Some buyers are willing to pay more for it, some might not.

It does look like it was well done, same with the turquoise handle inlays. I'd say that knife is worth more than the other "plain" versions. But I couldn't say for sure by how much. I might charge $50 to $100 more than the plain ones. The uniqueness of it might make it more desirable.
