I just put in the order for one. I always wanted a custom 12 and I finally got around to seeing one for sale that really caught my eye. I should have it in a few days. I will get some pictures of it up for your viewing pleasure. For now, a photo compliments of Steeladdictionknives:

Any of you EKI fellows have any advice to me as far as my expectations?

No framelock? That's one of the best features of the 12...

That was a worry that I actually mentioned to Steeladdiction when I spoke to him on the phone. I did not want to be disappointed when comparing it to my framelock 12. And to me the real icing on the cake with the 12 is the handle. I am thinking this will be a little thicker and fill my hand just a little better than the standard Ti/Ti 12.

The liners on them are super thick though.

That is what I am hoping for.

===========

All in all I have never been let down by any of the liner lock Emersons. So I am beginning to think it doesn't really matter. I have been EDC a slipjoint for about the last six months so the whole "lock integrity" has not been on my mind much....

But I have found times when I could have used more blade length. I am hoping with this to get both the overall utility I need along with a more classic look.

The slipjoint I have grown fond of is pictured below. The 12 pictured above reminds me a lot of the color.....:

So, to me, this:

Looks much classier than this:

As long as it all locks up solid and sits together straight I think I will be a happy guy. And I trust that Steeladdiction was honest when they inspected the knife as I spoke to him.

I know blah blah blah....

Thats a real nice looking 12

I have an 8 sitting in my work shop that gong to get Iron wood scales with Ti bolsters sometime soon.
Its nice to see a similar EKI done by the man him self just to confirm that 8s going to look good :D:thumbup:

That 12 is a beauty! I'm sure it's one tough SOB!
Post more pics when you get it. It rocks!:D

Usually I detest internet acronisms, but OMG! That knife is a work of art. Congrats on your find.

I wish I was skilled enough to do something like this myself. I would love to see it when your done. And then maybe some tips on how you did it. Sounds like a fun project.

Thanks, and I will get some pics up soon. Working 6-12's for a while. Thats kind of why I decided to go for it. I have never had an Emerson that is not a tough SOB!

That is how I felt when I saw it, thanks!

Beautiful!
Wood on a "user" would make me nervous.

It makes me nervous actually. It will make me afraid to drop it which in turn will probably make me drop it.... It is not going to stop me from using it though.

Hell, taking that out of the box would make me nervous.

I will put on a pair of latex gloves first... just kidding; I buy em to use em.

Doing bolsters is actually a bit of a PITA if you dont have acces to a milling machine.
You could do it "by hand" but its tough to get it all fitted nicely.
I did a Delica with carbonfiber and Ti not long ago, after seeing that he asked me to do the 8 for him :grumpy:....:p

I admire that. Personally, I have too many 'shelf queens', but every Emerson I own is a user. Frankly, I am at a loss to explain why, other than the fact that the Emersons feel so great in hand and demand to be used.

You also know the man who made them would want nothing less then to see them put to use. At least that is the impression I have gotten the times I have spoken with him.

In my opinion it is great to admire the craftsmanship and quality, I just like to do that by using them. Of course I take good care of my knives and do not abuse them.

I have two knives that sit in a safe. They are knives that were passed to me from my grandfather who is no longer with us. I will not use them.

Here are a couple quick pictures, I will post some better ones that show its true beauty when I stop working so much:

Hope you enjoy them.

Yep, I like it. Looks like a tank alright. Awesome Emerson rich!
The photos are great, take as many as you can before she gets scarred up. Thanks!:D

Thanks!

I took the knife all apart and did my thing with it. Now it is all back together lined up perfect and sitting to allow the CLP I coated the blade with to "cure". I really like what it does for blades. It is a well put together knife.

More Pictures to come.
