How do folks here carry custom, non-tactical folders? Do you guys just drop a $$$ knife in your pocket or do you have some sort of setup that attaches to a belt. Pics if you have them would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

Do you guys just drop a $$$ knife in your pocket...

i do, every day. it's a traditional sowbelly by gene shadley with old remington bone scales. excellent dust collector, keeps your pockets clean all day! i tried to catch the knife in the act but the flash burnt my, ehmm, thigh... so here are a couple of older pics:

Carry my Slee lockback in a leather sheath of my own making. No camera, no pics. Sorry.

I carry slipjoints in a Willam-Henry Clipcase, and have had some custom models made in shark and alligator.

I don't carry my pearl pretties at all....it never made sense to me....so the majority of my other carry knives are custom tactical style.

STeven,
Any downsides to the Clipcases? They look like a nice alternative to more custom, more expensive options.

I am currently carrying a Mike Alsdorf slippie. Mike gives you a leather slip sheath for it, so mine is in that. G2 made a lovely slip sheath for another custom slippie.

If I carry a knife that I don't want scratched, I carry it in a leather slip case that I make.

When folks tell me they're too pretty to carry, I tell them to carry them with their folding money.:D

I carry one of the slipjoints I made.
Mainly to minimize pocket lint and dust, use a nice thin supple horsehide leather pouch that I have made at a leather shop located in Southern Indiana.

Just got a thin, lined, tooled, pocket case from Paul Long to carry my John Perry lockback!

This is what John was talking about. Different sizes and/or custom fit.

Depending on the pants and the knife, it may sometimes ride in the watch pocket. Otherwise, it rides in the front right.

Nearly always have a 'art quality' knife in my pocket. I make little slip-cases for them.
Like these. The beads help with inserting the knife and removing the knife and case from my pocket.

No downsides to the Clipcase whatsoever, but I do recommend you speak with Mr. Long about his suggestions...he is one of the few hideworkers out there who specialize in knife leather ONLY...and his prices can be quite affordable.

I used to always carry a tactical style folder clipped inside my pocket. I rotated a JWS Evolution, and a Crawford mini-Kasper. Now I carry only a DH3 slipjoint. I still struggle trying to figure out how to keep it in my pocket. Usually in a stingray pouch but that makes it slow to take out of the pocket. I may forget the pouch and just put the knife in my pocket but the problem is that it ends up sideways, which is annoying.

STeven, do you know of any links where I could find one of those clip cases you mentioned? That sounds like what I've been thinking about.

Sums it up for me. Tactical's get clipped, but everything else just goes into the pocket. That includes the pearl pretties.

I keep a small tape measure, Silver Eagle, Tac flashlight, toothpick case and daily pill case in the same pocket that I carry a knife in....it's just not worth the hassle of bashing good scale material to carry without a Clipcase.
