custom ground blade on CQC6?

As most of you know I have been patiently awaiting delivery of my CQC6. I have been told that " I am close and should receive it soon" and " give it one more year." I figure since I have waited as long as I have I might as well get everything I want on the knife.

I have read more than one post and article over the years which say the grind on a chisel blade for a right handed person should be on the right side of the blade. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the 6 come with the grind on the left? Which leads me to my question, is it possible to have my custom made with a right hand grind, and if so will it add any extra time to my order? Thanks for your input.

Mac, you are correct, the grind IS commonly on the left side of the blade, and indeed, I would think that for most utility cutting chores, it would be best for a right handed person to have the chisel grind on the right....

Why don't you ask Emerson if he will set the knife up like that for you. I'll bet they just need to make a note for Ernie on your invoice.

My new '6 is ground on the left, and it does not matter to me. I carry other knives for utility cutting, and plan to use the '6 purely as a back - up weapon (at this point.) When the 'newness' wears off, it may strp a bit of wire and open a box, but for now, I am doing my best to keep it away from flesh ...... and bone!

Hope your's comes soon!

Good luck! I wanted right side grind and Black-T coating and was told that Ernie was making CQC-6's at the time and if I wanted one at that time, I should take what he was makingi.e. right side grind plain blade and no Black-T. I took the knife and really like it, but I always have wanted a right side grind.

To my knowledge, there are only 2 right side grind, CQC6's out there. I own one of them, a Half Moon logo, true lefty 6 with a right side grind. The other is owned by another Suspect, a Half Moon logo with a right side. Then, of course, there were the CQC/Viper Full Dress Models made for the Japanese market. Pictures can be found in the Gallery. In other words, if you can get a right hand grind it would be a great score.
