The knife looks "good" in the pictures?!?!?! GOOD??? That is the understatement of the year!!! :D

That Gunting is flat-out IN-FREAKIN-CREDIBLE in the pictures, and must be ABSOLUTELY OTHER-WORLDLY in real life!!

WOW!!!

Thanks for the post!

Beautiful work.

I couldn't tell -- did it use the compression lock?

When I'd asked Spyderco about licensing it, they said that no one had yet?

Yup, compression lock.

Bram is allowed to have custom makers use the Compression lock as part of his contract.

Ahh, that explains it.

I had some makers look at the CL to see if they wanted to do some with it (licensed of course) and they all said it was way too sensitive to lock tolerances to want to do them by hand.

That's a really beautiful Gunting, too.

My goodness, that is beautiful. A question. Has anyone ever seen custom folding Guntings for sale? I have seen a maker or two offer fixed versions but do not recall seeing a custom folder. That is a custom I would be very interested in.

All custom Guntings use Compression locks..all are hand cut and all work slickly, smoothly and incredibly well..
The whole point of a custom maker is the fine tolerances they can do..
the detail they can put into it...the beauty...

If you want a custom Gunting contact us..me..
Just understand they are not cheap...no bargins, no discussions..
famous makers, expensive pieces...big deposit..knife gets made..first come first serve..
As i said contact me directly...
Owen Wood's Odin Damascus & Mammoth Ivory is very cool...its traditioonal Compression lock..proud liners...
Stefan Steigerwald makes this one, as seen in the photos...& one with only dragon titanium scales no damascus..both of his are killer..with scale -integral compression locks..
Peter Marzetelli is working on one..
Bob Lum is working on one...( slight delay in the making..my fault not his)
Strider Boys are planning on one..
I;m having Sante Fe stoneworks do one..
Ed Schempps shop is helping our own Grasshopper make me a custom Gunting with Damascus bolsters with my logos in the damascus, maple burl handles...

A good knife translates into cool customs..

be safe

I don't know, but I bet it would cost about as much as a full firearm setup...like a 4 inch auto pistol, AR and a shotgun.
