Custom hammer

I've been looking for a custom hammer for training for a while, and I'm not willing to pay the $500 that the workout stores want on the Internet. I am looking for a sledge hammer on steroids. Ideally, a 30 pound sledge with a manageable handle width. Since there are a lot of knife makers here that I'm sure have some spare steel or metal laying around, is there anyone that could melt it into a block and affix a handle to it?
