Just finished my custom scales for my Leek. Burled black ash with dyed epoxy binding the scales to each side of the frame. Great weight, feel and retains lightning quick action. Very satisfied.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but you simply epoxied your wood slabs over a SS frame lock Leek's scales?

Basically yes. Dyed the epoxy brown to match the wood and also screwed the frame screws into and through the scales. Cut the big, drill and mount them and then shape with a belt sander. Make sense?

I think so. Did you add longer screws for everything or just drill a large enough hole for the head to fit through?

I wanted to do this for my Volt SS but the edges of the stainless steel sides are rounded so much that I didn't think I'd get a clean enough transition from the wood to the steel. Didn't consider gluing the slabs on, but guess I could build up a decent transition with dyed epoxy.
Looks good, Nice job.
