Custom Knife $250 - $300 Graduation Gift

Thanks Erik i will look into those options.

I thought that Titanium could be anodized into many different colors, and that might be a good option

This is a Benchmade Mel Pardue production knife. I own a couple and is one of the smoothest opening knives with some of the nicest mother of pearl. It's right at $300.00 and comes with a pocket sheath. I know of only one place that has them. It's on one of the internet knife stores.

"The 850 features bolsters and liners of anodized titanium and white MOP scales. The drop point blade features custom quality ATS-34 and is available in plain edge or with ComboEdge serrations. The 850 is not available with a pocket clip, but it does come with a pocket pouch. This knife is made the same way, and from the same materials, as it's custom counterpart. If you're looking for a knife to wear to the Opera, with your tuxedo, look no further.3 3/4" closed. Standard edge satin finished ATS-34 steel blade. Color anodized titanium bolsters and Locking Liner. Leather slip pouch."

That is quite nice. not a custom, but still something i will show my brother, and see what he thinks.

Thanks

how about a buck/mayo TNT ($200) titanium scales s30 blade framelock.

the other $100 could be used for a surefire flashlight... or maybe a leatherman charge ti multi tool!

good luck

Fit and finish on this knife are outstanding; every bit as good as a custom, IMO, maybe better.

However, if it's a custom your brother wants and must have, this knife will just piss him off. :D

Aaron Frederick has quite a few knives in the $300 range. In fact I just bought a heat blued damascus blade framelock from his for $400, so I KNOW you can find something in the $300 range without any difficulty. I would act fast since he is headed for OCS with Navy in the near future.

Yah I picked up a nice little flipper from him to at the ECCKS. I don't really recall seeing anything on his table like an anodized titanium frame lock. MOstly he had a variety of liner locks with different scale materials and colors. Still really nice knives for the money so it is worth checking it out.

What do you guys think of a Ray Rogers folder as a present for TimAckerman's brother? I've never held one in my hand but his designs look very solid and folders start around $250 I believe.

I have a warlock and quite like Ray's stuff. He can do his knives in all Ti and anodize them for color....as can, of course, most makers. Anyway, just thought I'd chime in that I think he makes an excellent folder.
