No one can say what wprks best for you, what makes you happier, so it's your call.
But if you're wondering how many of us carry a custom knife daily, count me in :)

That must be so comfortable in your hand. Great looking knife.

I'll never be able to afford one, but if I had one, it would be carried on special occasions, not as an edc. Like the post above, it depends on personal variables that only you can answer.

Brett, I smiled when I read your post. Never say never!

My first thought was, "He's young. He doesn't know what he will be able to afford in the future." :) Then I thought, "I'll bet one of his wife's puppy dogs would pay for a couple of nice customs..." Just kidding, L! But if you happen to be reading your husband's forum entries, I've got a great idea for a birthday gift!

I myself am in the midst of a mid-life crisis that likely can only be resolved with a couple of nice custom folders.:D Or one of those new Mustang convertibles.

I once said I would never spend more than $35 on a knife. Never say never.:p

While I don't usually carry the same knife many days in a row, I have two custom slippies that I carry quite often. They see use in many ways. I don't not use them because they are custom. One is 500$ and other was about 800$ mammoth ivory.

I don't spend money to look at something. I spend money have nice things I can use and rely on. I have nice tool that get used. I have a 1 of 1964 mustang that I daily drive (many who own those haven't even unwrapped them). I use what I buy lol

I'm a "use what ya got " type of guy .
But there is EDC and then there is " Hard work EDC "
At times my work involves some nasty environments for knives , there's no way I'd use a Custom in those situations .
There's a big difference between " carry " and " use "
Most of the beautiful knives I've seen posted here don't seem to have done many hard yards .
I'd carry , own and treasure anyone one of those knives , but only on the weekends , not at work .

One of my davisons putting in her weight. I think she was a gasket scraper that day.

I carry a Ken Steigerwalt custom with mastodon scales and a Damascus blade every day.
Some days it opens boxes and envelopes, some days it skins wire for welding leads.
I had to grit my teeth the first couple times I skinned wires but I know Ken would want me to use it.

Some unknown (to me) sage said that at the end of one's life, one will not regret what he has done, but what he has NOT done. This rings true to me, and I carry customs and semi-customs every day (almost). A $500 or $1500 custom amortized over your lifespan is CHEAP. It is an extension of your personality and it is an important tool. And of course, from the Filson catalog: "May as well have the best." Just my opinion and it fits me. Mileage is infinitely variable.

I don't know why I paid money to take philosophy classes in college. I've learned more for free in these forums. ;)

Some of my fixed blades are customs and they have same treatment as production knives ,as for custom folder,i will enjoy carrying and using it,when (if)I get one. :)

This Ohta is in my pocket today.

I love my Ohta. On those days when a slipjoint is called for, I carry either it or a 5-blade Nowland Sowbelly:

One word of caution: Once you start carrying a custom, it makes it very hard to accept a regular production knife, no matter how nice it is.

Chevy orange working on Ford blue?

Lol. Yes I bleed ford blue. And will have him make me a blue g10 one day. But this one I wanted to be able to find if I drop it cleaning a deer in the woods, for example, so it got orange. Not Chevy orange. Never Chevy orange in my household. We'll call it hunter orange lol!
