Custom knife shop in Chicago?

I'm going to Chicago this w-e. Is there any good custom knife shop there?

I don't know of any custom shops in Chicago proper...there is one in Rockford...Tom's Cutlery....but if you want to get together for a drink or something I have a small bar in the far NW suburbs(Island Lake),about 50 miles NW of downtown Chicago.Drop me a line if your interested.

I can probably get you to Tom's..it's an hours drive from me...which is an hour from the city.Let me know
 
Thank you, but I don't think it's going to work. My gf has plans for us. I could have insisted for a small detour for a shop downtown but not more. Thank you for the offer though!
 
Hey, I'm at Tom's about once a week.:thumbup: :thumbup: Seems like Moore Cutlery is in Lockport which is a little closer to Chicago. Gary is also good people.

No strictly custom knife shops in Chicago or the near suburbs.

edit: There are some gun stores that carry knives. ex. Schranks Smoke n' Gun in Waukegan has a selection of custom and production knives. A good hour north of Chicago if there is no traffic. Ask for John Schrank, a good man and straight shooter.
 
Where is Tom's in Rockford? I will be in Rockford for a three day training seminar next week at NIU ( My shop does work for Hamilton Sundstrand) and may have some time one evening.
 
Gary Moore from Moore Cutlery in Lockport is a good guy with a nice selection of customs. Lockport is about 35 miles southwest of Chicago. I don't think he has a actual store but, check out the site and give him a call.
