I went last year, Pretty good show. I bought a Bud Nealy pesh Kabz. The show was in 2 connected banquet rooms. One had windows on 2 sides so it was bright and well lit, the other had few or no windows and was poorly lit. I met a few makers whose stuff I really like, Pat Crawford, Bob Terzuola, Bud Nealy. All in all a pretty good show. I am more used to Gun and Knife shows, but they don't feature as many custom makers.
I am indigenous to NYC and always try to make it to the show. Its a great time to check out and handle alot of the stuff we see online. Meeting and hanging out with the makers is also fun.

I have to say I was a little under impressed by Manhattan. Maybe you have to like shopping a lot more than I do. I think the Detroit Institute of Arts has a better collection than the Metropolitan Museum of Art. And how is it possible that a Cheeseburger and a glass of beer costs $21 but I can buy a rolex watch for $5 ????? Street vendors were everywhere in the times square area.
Unimpressed with manhattan, well, thats because you have only been to the tourist centers and hotel district. If you think about it, those areas are expensive and unimpressive in any city in any part of the world.
Manhattan is a large island with a lot of different neighborhoods. But all that translates into is food, drink, clubbing, bar hopping and shopping. Don't quote me, but I think 60% of the local population is female!

Mass transit in Manhattan is top notch. I don't know how New Yorkers tolerate the parking fees. A garage around the corner from my hotel was $7.50 a HALF hour, but T-shirts were 6 for $10!
Parking is in high demand, the t-shirts aren't. (Don't buy them, they fall apart after a few washes if not the first wash.)
There are tens of thousands of people who work in that part of manhattan that make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. There are hundreds of people who work in manhattan that make millions of dollars annually, scores that make tens of millions and a few that make hundreds of millions annually.
So, for the most part, they pay the parking fees. The rest of us take the train.

I went in to a party store a block from my hotel to get a 2 litre bottle of coke. The woman in line ahead of me has the same thing, the guy behind the counter tells her $2. I get up to the counter he says $3, I say wait a minute, you told her $2, He says Ok $2
Prices for things are jacked up around the Hotels. Not much you can do about that. Buy your drinks and such at Duane Reade. Cheap stuff, served with attitude and some pain thrown in.
