Hi everyone,

since I got my PM2 a few months back I have fallen in love with Spyderco's compression lock. Being able to close the knife so fast makes it an addictive toy :)

Is anyone aware of custom knife makers who use the compression lock in any of their models? As far as I know Spyderco has been willing to allow makers to use some of their patents (e.g. the Spydie hole).

back when the PM first came out i wanted one also but after looking over the design its not an easy build. im sure there are makers out there that woudl be able to do it but the other thing is its a patanted lock and spyderco owns the rights to it so they woudl need to gey tthe OK from spyderco to even make one (that is if the maker wants to do the right thing )

I didn't realise that the compression lock was especially difficult to employ, I always imagined it as a kind of liner lock turned around.

@Lycosa, thanks for the tip, I'm enjoying it very much :) Still, I can't help but imagine that with some tighter tolerances and maybe a ball bearing pivot it might be even smoother and therefor more fun.

@rycen, thanks for moving! I wasn't sure where to post the topic, it being a mix of custom request and market analysis.
