I am new to making knives, but I've read alot about the different steel types and blades. I want to make a few knives using deer antler handles and I need help finding blades for them. I keep finding what I feel are cheap blades and I want to use quality blades. Can someone help me with this?

Sometimes makers here post blades in the knifemaking supplies section. Ragnar sells carbon scandi blades of decent quality for do it yourself projects. (look him up on Google) Check out Wayne Goddard's "$50 Knife shop" book for creative low budget ways to start making your own quality blades.

Many of the knife supply catalog/internet stores have good blades. Jantz, USA Knifemakers, Texas Knife Supply, K&G, Sheffield, etc.

If I'm looking for something I usually start with this page, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/699736-Knifemaking-Suppliers-List, it is in the stickies above too. Thompson Scandi has some blades in D2 and O1, I think. All the ones Stacy mentioned and I like the Ragweed Forge site too. I need to order a Laurie PT soon for a puukko down the road. I think that is more blade then I can currently make and for not much dough either.

Not sure where you are located but if there is a Woodcraft near they usually have a few, but I have no idea what quality or type of steel.
